While I was helping Charlotte I took a few pictures when it was quieter. You can see them here

Superb.

That 50T cog - was that part of a 1 x 10 set-up?

Yes - I saw it at Eskdalemuir.

Thought I saw Denise there, Dean.  Did she call it a day, somewhere?

I find it incredible that a significant number of bikes on such a venture have no mudguards. Why??

G. the one of John Jackson (Macc Wheeler) at the beginning sums it up - he looked worse than that at Eskdalemuir but he's hard as nails.  You've got a great eye for detail, not that you'd have much difficulty spotting that beautiful scrollwork.  I'm guessing that was before, rather than after.  Do you know what and whose the bike was?

No, that scrollwork was at the finish at about 5am. It's a Gilbaud, belonging to Jean-Sébastien Guilbaud - he built it for PBP 2010. A real work of art.

That's Bikey-Mikey's machine. Not sure if it's 1 X 10 or 1 X 11

Von Broad on a tricky wheel-truing excursion at St Ives (lovely to see you again, Garry!):

What he won't tell anyone is that he donated his own back wheel to a rider who was in trouble.

My photos from the Pocklington control.

Mostly of empty space and food, as I was usually too busy to think of taking pictures when there were actually people there.

I was truly gutted that I missed out on this. Normally I hate having my photo taken, but for amazing photos like these I would make an exception. I arrived at 2am and had someone waiting to collect me. Charlotte was asleep in a corner of the room. The volunteers on duty at the time were very keen to wake her up. They switched on the lights and gave her a prod. There wasn't an immediate return to consciousness and being rather sleep deprived myself I didn't have the heart to subject someone else to that state just to indulge me, so I slunk away.
...I expect if the process is repeated in 2021 and I ride, age will help me look even more haggard.

Excellent photos!  This is what you'll look like when you are dead - with the exception of Edie, who looks as fresh as when she left Eskdalemuir!
