I think Dez and I missed the main event because Dez spent a long time on his boris bike learning curve. However, the side shows in the form of a couple of juicy snogs with Her Welshness (why does predictive text want to call her Her Yelpiness?) and some very good food and beer combined with splendid company made it well worthwhile.

Ha! It was so lovely to see you and meet Dez, Xander, Andrij, Ham, Butterfly, Clarion and Mr Allsopp as well as Jurek and Jane

What a fabulous turnout tonight, far more than the previous flashride.

Socialising  aside, that was a storming turnout.

I've not been on the previous two rides, but from where I was standing (I was on my Oysterbike this evening) on the corner of Upper Ground, the cyclists kept coming, and coming, and coming in droves.

Wholly inexperienced in this kind of thing (estimation) but I'd be very surprised if anyone says that numbers were anything other than well into four figures.

The spectacle of the throng crossing the bridge north to south was something to behold.

A storming turnout.

Let's hope it gets the message across.

I'm glad there was a good turnout.  I wanted to do it myself, but since I'm only just about finished with work, it's probably just as well I didn't!
Actually, it is rocket science.

Maybe it needs to happen... like every weekday, then they'll definitely get the message!

It does happen every weekday, except it's cars rather than bikes blocking the road. ;)

It was indeed a pleasant experience - I was surprised by how many turned up, and it was very appropriate to retire to the MAd Hatter Afterwards in excellent company.

I waved, but you didn't see me, as you passed the head of the ride.  Looked like you were all having great fun.
I then missed everyone after the end of the ride. I got asked to stand in the road at the junction of Union St and Blackfriars Rd, to make sure everyone stopped on red.  Many light change cycles were needed for this and then I got involved in giving some cyclists directions back to Hampstead (they seemed a bit terrified ending up in the badlands of SE London.  I offered to give them a tour, but they declined).  I managed a brief chat with Jurek, HW and an even briefer few words with Andrij (didn't say how lovely your
new green dream machine is, by the way, gorgeous colour) before the ride.  Also met some Merton cyclists too, one had a Carry freedom trailer like ours at Lewisham  Cyclists and admired his carrying system fixed to it. ( an old cot with the legs removed, very roomy).
I detoured a little on the way home, nice warm evening, perfect for a little ride,  and had this mad idea that we should do a running programme of bridge flash rides covering all the bridges over the year.
