Not sure about the shorts and sandals but yesterday and today I was in 3/4s and it was just about warm enough to dispense with the overshoes.

Still haven't seen a daffodil.

But, the windows are wide open and the temperature in the flat is still in double figures. I've been down the allotment and actually stayed more than 15 minutes and come midweek..

Saw my first celandines in flower in the Lenches around 11.30 this morning. Spring normally arrives in that bit of Worcestershire about a week before it does in Brum. So I was impressed to see a couple more in Tanworth, only 7 miles S from home.

Or was I riding more slowly than the progress of spring from S to N

Song thrush, wren and robin all in good voice. Also, another fairly subdued song I couldn't identify - possibly a dunnock.

I heard a curlew on the Tees/Wear border this evening. Marvellous birds.

I also saw my first lapwing of the year at the weekend, and there are displays of crocuses everywhere

I miss the lapwings and curlews. One of my earliest memories is of seeing a curlew, then a lapwing up on Pendle Hill.

Round here the daffs were out on Tuesday, but not Saturday.
That's proper wild English daffs, not the bigger garden ones

I counted 14 squished frog carcasses in a stretch of about 250 metres this morning...

I'm going to contact the Council and see if they can put up some "Frogs/Toads Crossing" warning signs.
