The Clever Coffee Dripper looks an interesting option as well.   Supposed to give the flavour of a press pot but without the sludge.

Is there any downside to the plastic v60?

Yeah, it's not big enough.  Get the 02 size - even if you're mostly making single cups.  A cone's a cone as far as efficiency goes, but the larger one is easier to use and no more expensive to buy papers for.

I tried the finer grind idea on my Europress today and compared to my normal grind size it was slightly bitter and reminded me a little bit of drinking genuine turkish coffee  many years ago

Well, thanks to some very nice people at Artisan Roast* I'm all Porlex'd up, and have some of their Kenyan beans, roasted last Monday.  For now, I've opted for a standard cheap plastic 4-cup filter holder that I've butchered with a sharp knife to fit my mug, and a measuring jug instead of a fancy kettle (I almost got something a bit like this, but the jug was cheaper).

I'm seriously impressed with the grinder ...

* - new website up tomorrow, apparently

Well - this is all working very nicely  :)  Thanks again for the advice ...
