Gated roads
« on: 10 April, 2008, 11:01:54 pm »
Round here in suburbia a number of roads have yellow gates across them to stop rat running. Helpfully rubbush trucks and the like have keys to unlock them and pass through. Doublely helpful they have cycle paths both sides and the words "KEEP CLEAR" painted in warm friendly letters both sides on the gate.

I assume so - you can rarely see the words as car frequently park on them. Tonight scooting along I stopped to take a photo. of a van parked on the words infront of the gate and got a vocal out burst by a bloke working on a similar van a few metres away.

I got to thinking - had he in fact transgressed? Is it just bad manners/impolite to park blocking the gate like that?
A shitter and a giggler.

I'd guess it's more than impolite, since Fire Engines probably need to get through them as well.
Actually, it is rocket science.

Absolutely... Emergency vehicle access.  >:(

I suppose that the driver can argue that he's working alongside the vehicle and can therefore move it if necessary, but I doubt if that would save him from a ticket if somebody enforced it.   :hand:
