eTrex20 record a route ate the same time as ride one.

I have a new eTrex20. I can put GPX route on and start it off. I can ride a route and record a track.

But, I'm unsure if I can ride an existing GPX route (using it to direct me turn by turn) and record the route at the same time. For instance, if I were riding a DIY/Perm Audax and / or wanting to upload the track and data I rode onto Strava or Garmin's website, to analyse the performance speeds etc...

Is this possible?

Cheers

Yes, of course.

Track logging and navigation are completely separate functions.

I have looked through the manual, I don't see how to do this? There are track to chose from, named on the GPX list and at the top is Current Track, so if I chose to navigate off a preloaded GPX will it also record automatically the ride I do, and then when I stop the ride and Stop navigation, do I get the option to record the Current Track?

If track logging isn't turned off (setup/tracks/tracklog set to one of the 'record' options), your every movement is logged in the current track, irrespective of any navigation you may or may not be doing.

So, with track logging enabled, navigate a track (or route, or 'go to' a POI or waypoint, or just wander about without using the navigation functions), and "Current Track" will contain a log of your movements since it was last reset.

Ah.  I think I see where the confusion comes from:  "Current Track" in the tracks list means "the track I am currently recording" *not* "the track I am currently navigating"

When you've finished your ride, you can save the contents of "Current Track" by clicking on it and selecting save.
