Hopefully her wheel revolutions outnumber her pedal revolutions by at least a factor of 3.

Here's a useless diversion. Assuming she's not riding fixed, I started off with a wheel diameter of 2m. A good single purpose gear would be between 63-73", or somewhat less than 2m. So, a straight 1:1.  Downhill, you probably pedal little, while uphill an average gear of -  what - 45"? so a little less than 2:1. On average, I thought 2 - 3 x sounded about right.

Ratio of chainring to cassette teeth for most folk on 700C on the flat is between 2:1 and 3:1 but usually at the high end. Lower climbing gears drop that. Add in that HK has done quite a few miles on a Moulton (about 2/3 the rollout of 700C), lots on a roadified MTB and a fair number on a Brompton and include racing for several years (big gears) and freewheeling downhill (which is her preference) and they all push the ratio up.

Well done.  You've done that in a very short time.  I remember you as a youngster starting to ride with Portsmouth CTC in something like 1985.

Who can forget Audax Junior Champion 'Whitebelly' gracing the cover of Arrivée?

Well done!

Well done postie!
Especially for having the recorded proof too!
I've been riding a bicycle for over 50 years now but have only been recording rides for the last 15 or so; these recent years including 80,001 commuting miles on top of leisure rides and some audax.... I doubt I'll make it to 300,000 recorded before dropping off the mortal coil!  :)

I am the youngest by 5 years, harry lodge is the next youngest at 51.
Harry joined at 36!

For anyone who doesn't know , harry was a pro cyclist for many years.

Yes. A pro will do 20-28k or so a year, so a decade as a pro, plus a few extra years would do it.
It sure helps when all you have to do for a living is ride.

Doing half that with a full time job is something. I was really pleased when I cracked 10k the first time.

I did ask Jack Eason about the 300,000 mile club. He was never interested in it but reckoned he'd "Easily done double that, at least 700,000." He was riding about 22k a year then. Being retired with a boat on the Thames, living in Waltham Cross and having an Audax habit help the miles too.

I passed 300,000 on Saturday afternoon at the age of 50 and 7 months.  A bit behind postie who was prolific at a much younger age (and one month younger than me it turns out).

I found diaries from 1989 up to 1999 and spreadsheets from 2003 onwards.  I know what totals I did in the intervening years but I’m not sure it’s good enough to become an official member.  I’ll drop them a line and see what happens.

I’ve been blessed enough to never have been really ill or had long-standing injuries.  I’ve also managed to continue riding through lots of life events.  I figure I can make half a million before I’m 70.

My claim has been accepted.  Should be added to the official list at the end of the year.
