Wot RZ said.  Blair Witch Project was unmitigated bobbins.  Tony Blair was way scarier.  You'd think that when the three idiots first get lost in the woods and come across a stream, they'd follow it to get out of said woods.  Idiots.  Serves them right for being made of teh stupidz.

Rocknrolla

I was in the mood for a mindless film. That's what I got. Better than expected - some really silly funny bits. The drugged up rockstar is good.

We watched Hitchcock's "The Birds" last night on DVD

They smoke a lot don't they?  Perhaps that's what the birds don't like

BWP was an OK idea. But yes, it turned into a handy excuse to yell FOLLOW THE STREAM YOU MORONS at the screen. Oh, and HOLD THE BLOODY CAMERA STILL. Still, I suppose people in real life are stupid and consequently they should expect to get eaten by grouchy witches. I did actually like Cloverfield. It's a monster stomp, what's not to like.

Watched Source Code at the weekend. Ordinary. There was a sense that there was a good idea underneath, but I figure the studio crushed it, just in case the poor audience got a headache. They promised me a 99 and then took my Flake. Vanilla.

Oh and Paranormal Experience 2, which was really just Paranormal Experience 1 with different people. It was OK. My poltergeist does nothing like that though. It just hides under the stairs. Scared of the cats, apparently. And grapes, which is very odd for supernatural entity from the afterlife. Some things defy rational explanation.

Of course the really scary part was the ticket stub that said we'd paid to see

You know, I am very pleased to be part of the lucky half of the world's population; the half that can actually enjoy a piece of fiction where some of the characters do something stupid.

Not refernecing any particular posts on here but, I do like to just switch off amd watch a filum. Sometimes I just couldn't give a toss about plot holes and inconsstencies. Occasionaly it is just good to revel in blood, gore, explosions, cars chases, nekkid bods, ickle fluffy aminals, scaley fanged beasties and pure tosh.

Sometimes.

No Country For Old Men

I watched that as well. It was really good until about 3/4 of the way through, when it ended.

Super 8.  It wasn't what I expected.  But the young actors were superb, with a sugar-sweet sub/superplot that this sentimental old fool absolutely loved  :D

The Bridges Of Madison County. Just lovely. Never seen it before.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed but Meryl Streep can't half act.

Bobb and I have just got back from seeing Cowboys & Aliens. It felt too long and the middle bit dragged, and if it hadn't had Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig in it, it probably wouldn't have been worth bothering with. They're both great in it, but the whole thing's a bit odd.

Star Wars IV - A new hope.

I still love the films (all of them) but the dialog is *awful*

Mississippi Burning.

A very powerful film.

Almost everything about that film is untrue, apart from the basic facts of the murder.  The FBI resisted investigating the case until forced to act by political pressure.  They then solved it by a combination of bribery and brutality.  No noble heroics.

Still a good (and for me, poweful) film.

Let the Right One In. Very good & atmospheric. Gruesome in parts too. Highly recommended.

I did The Deerhunter & Reservoir Dogs in one looooong evening last Friday. I felt like Suicidal Sid afterwards!!!

Black Swan. Wow. Intense.

Reminded me a lot of Thirteen in the feel of the movie (its filming style) as well as the impression helplessness. Also reminiscent of Gia.
