Braved the omicron to see Spider-Man No Way Home.

Very enjoyable, I won't spoil it. Better by an order of magnitude than the drudging Eternals and the lacklustre Venom sequel.

I'd pay to see* a version where the pretty girl actually does go splat at the bottom of the cliff** and the beasties from beyond hammer the superheroes into the ground before laying waste to the planet and handing the keys of supreme power to Priti Patel.

* Lie, but I'd probably watch it on Netflux.
** I take it she didn't
I've dusted off all those old bottles and set them up straight

Cosmos. (2019)  Three astronomers discover...
Surprisingly good, for what is apparently a no budget film.

If this the same movie, I tried to watch this and gave up after about 30 minutes of three men sitting in a car and absolutely nothing happening.

Last night we re-watched Spider Man and the Spiderverse, which is great fun .
Tonight we had the new Bond. Impressive that it’s taken this long for a child to show up.

You even got a different ending than the US release...because we weren't done yet when they shipped out the international release!.

Best Bond movie in ages. Really enjoyed that.

The Battle Of The River Plate, which I haven't seen for years.  Anthony Quayle hams it up to the max and Peter Finch plays the "good German" who never gives the Roman salute and is generally nice to everyone.  They omit the fact that he shot himself on top of a big swastika flag a couple of days later, just like Kessler from Secret Army.
Hard work sometimes pays off in the end, but laziness ALWAYS pays off NOW.

But Kessler survived for a poorly received sequel.  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081885/reviews?ref_=tt_urv

I've vague memories of "Secret Army" being something my parents watched, but can't remember much about it.   My main memory of the sequel was that John , from "The Tomorrow People" was in it.

Not their best, but anything by Powell/Pressburger is usually worth a view.

We finished The Muppet Christmas Carol about an hour ago and we're about to start The Princess Bride.

You know what's about to happen at The Asbestos Palace (once the duck curry is done, eta 11 pm, but we have beer so I'm in no hurry).

Yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker.

There is no better Christmas message than that.

Trying to get through the Matrix Resurrection.  It's basically one big repeat of the first movie. (More so than Force Awakens).

Something about a matrix.  It seemed strangely familiar.

Finished 3rd act. It's trash. Poorly lit, so-so camera work, terrible acting/directing. Some decent action set pieces. It was more of a second funeral than a resurrection. Glad I didn't have to pay for this.

The Quiller Memorandum.
I'd recorded it off of Talking Pictured TV the other day, and we watched it Christmas Day evening.
Enjoyable, lightweight and very 1960s spy story. Just right for the night.

Yes, Kessler escapes at the end of Secret Army with the help of his mistress.

The problem with Secret Army these days is that most people will have seen its direct parody ('Allo 'Allo) first.  When Secret Army first came out, it was watch-from-behind-the-sofa stuff.

Only Roman if you believe C18 French painters. OTOH US schoolchildren did use it, in the religious ceremony of saluting the flag.

The Trip, on Netflix.

A nice, serene film about a Norwegian couple spending a weekend in their lakeside log cabin.

Still enjoyed it, second time around.
