Tan Hill mid-winter foolishness - 22nd to 24th February
« on: 25 September, 2018, 10:02:37 am »
I have long hankered after riding up to the Tan Hill Inn and maybe doing some freeze your bits off camping.  Unfortunately I have never been able to take part in any of the rides organised by northern based yacfers but the early afternoon of Friday 22nd February could see me in the environs of Tan Hill and I should have until the Sunday morning so that gives me two nights and all of Saturday for mid-winter fun and games.  I know its a way off but is anyone likely to be about?

Clearly the weather might bollox the plan but let's see...

I’m relieved to hear spring arrives at all on the top of Tan Hill!

Hopefully I'll be living just 'a stones throw' away by February.

Interested :)

Well, it will shorten your winter, but the average is no better...

She's special, though the pub is/was up for sale, so there may be new staff by then to point and laugh be awed by our foolhardy ways.

Very sorry folks, but for me this trip ain't happening at the moment  :'(

Despite 2019 being our sabbatical year (posh word for temporarily jacking in work) we don't have enough time to do all the things we need to do before we tootle off to French France in May.  Something has to give and this is it.

Sorry again  :-\ :'(

We may well take a car assisted trip up to Tan Hill the weekend after next as we're in the area.  It's a shame about the cycling but riding up there is still on the To Do list.
