A good friday afternoon topic.
I am boldly resisting replacing my 2008 Marin Point Reyes with.....
http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/product/17359/Marin_Point_Reyes_Bike_2009
Because from 2010 they have downspecced the bike (removed its carbon fork, downspecced geartrain etc etc), and in its current format it is (IMO) one of the very best urban bikes out there. But then it would be so boring to replace a bike with the same again. But then again, it's probably worth £600 for the spares alone.
Resist.... resist.....

I didn't buy a whole fleet of Van Nicholas loveliness at Corridori.
-
I haven't bought a set of hub-mounted blades for the baraktacycle...
-
Oh, but you totally should.....

I don't think she needs encouraging (https://yacf.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=31801.msg1143074#msg1143074)...

I haven't bought myself a Dawes Clubman (http://www.ashcycles.com/site/dawes-clubman-2011?zenid=26f0f0b78c6285851f6f0ddd51630a6e), and haven't for a number of days now. Not sure how long that's going to keep up though :-\
-
I still haven't bought a new Cateye rack-mounting bracket. Nor rejiggled my ver' cunning bodge job (the former Nabendynamolampensensorschaltergabelbrueckehalterung needs to be zip-tied on the inside of the random spare Lochhalteplatte to stop it wiggling about). Meanwhile I'm down to one rear light.
This laxness might be a bit to do with dropping the other light from a great height and smashing the lens thoroughly, mind you.
-
I didn't buy anything in the Rapha sale :'(

I've got a vision of something Boadicea would have had on a chariot - :o is that right?
-
Haven't bought the rim and spokes needed to get HK's winter commuter up and running.
Haven't bought the headset or front brake needed for the Audax tandem.
Haven't bought the spare BB, new pedal and new rear light for my Brommie.
Haven't bought the new charger for HK's commuter front light.
Quite a 'to do' list building up.

Me too.

I didn't buy anything in the Rapha sale :'(
Neither did I...but only because I dithered on Wednesday & they'd sold out of what I wanted by yesterday (the bomber jacket fwiw) :(
-
I've not bought any Assos kit so can't do my sperm whale inna condom impression.
-
I didn't buy an Enigma Etape. To be fair, I've spent around four years not buying one, so quite experienced.
-

This must be where I am going wrong, I clearly need to PRACTICE not buying things
-
I didn't buy mudguards, cassette, front & rear mechs. I tried to but somebody didn't sign for them, they got sent back and I've been refunded
-
I didn't buy a recumbent, and I've not been doing for over twenty years now.
-
I didn't buy a ti frame which I would really like to have. Common sense is breaking out all over the place.
-
Hopefully I won't derail the topic, but I didn't buy a helmet, despite the Dubai police teling me I needed one... since I was only riding to the bike shop to pick up a bike box for packing my bike for the flight to India, it seemed qa bit pointless.
-
I did not buy a new bike, due to the final step of "confirm order" being borked on several attempts...this will hopefully be sorted out with a phonecall tomorrow
-
Deano get yourself something cheap and cheerful my BIL got himself into real trouble some years ago breaking the 'rules'.

So.. "Instant n+1 again... " is in abeyance for the moment? ::-)

I'm not cycling any more here - that's kinda the point. I was only going to collect the box so I can prepare my bike for leaving.
On the way back, with an 8' x 4' x 1' box stapped to the back of my bike, no one paid me any attention :)
-
I haven't bought a Vigorelli, buggrit.
-
I have NOT bought a Dirty Disco, despite me feeling the need for N+1, having a well timed tax rebate and needing something to do with my spare time, after working, cycling and being TLD's taxi for her very busy social life. Hang om, spare time, what's that?
Whilst at Costco on Thursday I have spied the next, roughly bicycle related, purchase.
A heavy duty work bench and seperate, castored, tool box. Should help tidy up the garage somewhat so we can get in there to get at the non-bike related stuff.
-
How terribly restrained of you, T.
I still have not bought either a road bike or a tandem.
Not yet.
-
I ordered...
Not sure that's in the spirit of the thread :P
-
We're still holding out on the Green Tent front.

Wrong thread, I'll get the hang of this reading bit at some point. ;D
-
Not bought any new tyres for either of my bikes. Decided that I'd be better off using what I currently have - Bonty Race X-Lite hard case on the road bike, and Bonty Race Lite Hard Case on the tourer.
Instead, I put the money towards a mini compressor & airbrush kit, so I can do better paint fettling of airfix kits! :D
-
I haven't bought one of these:
I'm not sure it would fit on any of my bikes. :(

There's a solution to that...

Only a matter of time though, that's the most Phanta bike I ever did see. It's lovely.
-
It's just a pity the full build version isn't available in the UK (I even emailed to check!) :'(

Surely that's better as you can just swap the good bits off current bike (and get a new set of wheels centred around purple Hope hubs)..?

Nah, I want to go disc (and the full build version has Shimano R7000, which is what I'd want anyway).
-
Ooh that's nice. Presumably it's not steel though?
-
Aluminium - which is actually what I want! Ideally I'd have a threaded BB as well, but I don't think the perfect bike exists. (I've also looked into a CAAD12, but the purple framesets are all but unobtainable in a 54, and the full build is Dura-Ace which is slight overkill for my needs and rather too spendy...).
-
That's alright, I don't need it in that case :)
-
As long as it takes the Shimano press-fit you won't have a problem with it.
BB30 on the other hand . . .
-
I didn't buy the T-shirt, emblazoned with.....
"I have too many Bicycles
Said No-one, Ever."
-
...already got one.

I may get a "Life behind Bars" one soon.

BTDTGTTS - Mine's dark blue :)
-
Nothing yet, but the day is young
-
Pair of 28mm Contis. Dunno if I will, there's a trim router I want for not much more.
-
A set of Cyclus head tube facing and fork crown cutting tools.
-
Further to post elsewhere, a puncture repair outfit.
-
Some carbon tubular wheels and some isocore bars.
-
I haven't bought Chairman Al's disc-braked, nose- and tail-faired, Rohloff-equipped Kingcycle, mostly because it's too small.
-
But now you've given it a good coat of looking at I suspect the genesis of a cunning plan . . .
-

I was watching a brand new Park BTS-1 BB facing and tapping set on eBay starting at £230 (less than half price). It went for that, too. But the seller, despite having 100% feedback, couldn't spell or punctuate and it smelt of scam.
-
[Fx: Mr. Larrington maintains a dignified silence ]
Turns out it's only got a disc brake on the back. And it's too small. It's have to be, coz Chairman Al is a midget.
-
Job.B's ICE tandem trike. It's lovely, but we've got nowhere to store it, let alone transport it.
(Also pointedly ignoring the Kingcycle.)
-
an ICE Full Fat, because a) I would be killed utterly to DETH by Dr Beardy (Mrs) if it showed up at Beardy's burrow and its a little bit too small to hide, and b) its a bit of a one trick pony and although it would be fun cycling on the beaches and in the dunes, getting it there would be a pain.
-
I'd be interested to know how many of those they actually sell. I mean, evidently enough for them to start producing them commercially, but I can't help thinking it's mostly a crowd-pleaser at trade shows.
-
I am eyeing up winter cycling kit in the expectation that now is a better time to buy than early November.
More specifically, bib tights.
I have my eye on these https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/CLPXFLSRBT/planet-x-flanders-superroubaix-bib-tight which're £40, but my current much loved bib shorts are by Decathlon. They do a tights version for £60 https://www.decathlon.co.uk/900-warm-cycling-bib-tights-black-id_8396396.html which would have the same pad and material as the shorts version, so I am thinking of sucking it up and paying the £20 difference for consistency's sake.
Only complication is I'm assuming you can't make one pair of bib tights last all week so I'll probably need two sets, which raises the stakes a bit. £80 to Planet X or £120 to Decathlon? Arrrgh!

A Marin Fairfax SC3 hybrid. https://www.cyclesurgery.com/p/marin-fairfax-sc3-2018-Q3214220.html?colour=1933
Apparently I've won it in a Red Bull Strava commute promotion. Not really sure what to do as I commute on fixed with drops and don't have room to store the bikes we have, let alone another.
-
Send it to the guy at Will It Blend?
-
It seems I am so unhip that I hadn't heard of Will It Blend until this very Google.
I have until Friday to advise them which frame size I want.

Large of course. Then you can give it to me as a retirement pressie. :D
-
It is going to a workmate for his commute as that seemed appropriate for something won by cyclecommuting.
-
A Rapha winter collar in the sale: by the time I'd finished umming and ahhing over whether it was worth getting another one once the postage charges were added on, they'd sold out.
-
Still haven't bought a new commuting hack bike (Pinnacle Neon 1).
Current hackbike is intent on not falling to bits and surprises me with its lazarus-esque results from minimal maintenance.
-
Job.B's ICE tandem trike. It's lovely, but we've got nowhere to store it, let alone transport it.
Barakta has now become aware of, and joined me in not buying this.

i think one (and tother*) doth protest to much.
* though the tother is siping it silently.

Almost bought a Sonder Camino Al. With the 15% discount, seems quite reasonably priced for the spec. Though I have several bikes already which need some work done, and haven't been used in ages, so I should get them sorted out first.
Might buy a Sonder sometime anyway. Maybe there will be a new version soon?
-
I haven't bought this bar tape:
Nor this matching saddle (though if Spesh produced an Oura or Romin in that colour scheme, I probably would have done!):
I do wish these bike companies would stop bringing out such pretty stuff at the moment. Won't they think of my poor bank balance? :'(
-
Not purchased list grows:-
1. Pinnacle Neon 1 (new commuter/hack bike)
2. Altura Dryline 2 56L panniers (my current ones are falling apart and on their 3rd tactical application of duck tape).
-
A new back wheel for the Domane. I can still see the wear telltale, though.
-
Finally got round to treating myself to some Ortlieb panniers - found some at about £25 less than all the mainstream suppliers - a Dutch outfit I'd not come across before, Mantel .... and no delivery charge either.
Rob
PS : Watch this space (well the Sale section) for a number of luggage items incl 3 pairs of excellent condition panniers and several Carradice bags of varying sorts.
-
Havent bought any replacement bits for my Cruzbike, haven't even been in the shed for 2 weeks
-
Have failed today, with silly amounts of stuff bought to replace worn-out stuff before next season's planned rides.
-
I have not not-bought nothing. You figure it out.
-
This torque wrench. I don't need it (I already have a torque wrench), but I like the look
of it.

Aaargh! - obviously the excitement got to me - what I DID NOT buy was the matching Ortlieb barbag.

It's only a matter of time...

Unlikely - I thought it was ugly, and hey I've already got two Altura barbags.

Quite like it though.
-
Ooh. Having had a quick look at the site, that's one of several things I haven't bought.
-
I haven't bought a Carradice Super C. I will make do with my barley and my cheapo frame bag for my trip to France next month instead, I won't be needing to pack much. It would be nice though...
-
One of them there PlanetX £500 1x11-spd bikes coz a) light alloy frame, which ain't necessarily bad in itself but at that price... b) looming Brexit implies customs sadism and c) we need a new hob.
The things look like fun, though. Not the hobs, the other.
-
Currently resisting the urge to buy these:
Seriously, I really hope this trend for shiny purple stuff goes away soon. My bank balance can't really cope any longer. :-X
