Title: Bikes for Refugees - Deptford. And me polishes halo.

I saw the Bike Project when I was taking the MX5 in for an MOT.

Fantastic idea - take in discarded bikes, do them up and give them to refugees and asylum seekers who are penniless.
Scum now polishes his halo. Having a clearout, I realised I had not used my track pump in years. Similarly my toolbox with brand new pedal spanners, bottom bracket tools and a little grease gun.
Delivered these and a box of various inner tubes to the Bike Project.
They have loads of BSOs lined up outside for fettling. When I was there a lady was being handed a nice looking pink bike and being helped to get to the nearest train station for her journey home. Pat on the back to Bike Project.

There's a similar organisation in Bristol, which started out with bikes for refugees but the idea has expanded quite a bit since then.

Must be others in other places (I hope).
