Great evening. That rain was looking suspiciously white and floaty on the way home. The Winter that keeps on Giving .

Riding home from where Mike dropped me off, I was thinking "this wouldn't have been so bad" - until I turned north into quite a grim headwind. Rain wasn't so bad, mind.

That barman was such a cool dude.

You northerners are having a tough winter. It's balmy down here in the Yorkshire equivalent of the Sorbonne. I mean, it is balmy down there... Currently experiencing the joys of Marske. Singing.. "where had all the sand gone" to the tune of "I do like to be beside the seaside"... (Not very musically obvs.).

It's a beautiful day, anyone for tonight?

Thai sounds good. See you there.

If we do a few repeats up Carlton Bank, we can all have pudding, too. And I promise not to tell the story about the lad who came off his bike down there.

Be interested in views on the 'Thai'   ?

There is a lack of Thai in the "Cleveland" area (I think there's one in Redcar, Hartlepool, Stokesley and Carlton) and I've not had a good one yet... compared with them been very abundant down south....

Good Thai, decent beer, Carlton Bank's still there. It's more of a restaurant than a pub but the food was good. It has a winged wheel!

-----ALERT: LOCAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED-----

This: Clicky

How do I get to it? Is there an A66 bike path here? I'd prefer to cross here for the maximum explorage. (Yes, it is a word. Now.)

the alternative is to cross here: Clicky which looks like death in seconds?

Or is this one 'the one'- and I just howk the bike along the footpaths? I like the look of it best! Clicky

No, the bike path from Sadberge (which is PDG for the UK - part decent path, part old road, part dogging spot) packs in at the top of Mill Lane (the bridge over the A66). I don't think that tunnel's accessible. I did once come off at the top of Mill Lane and dash along the carriageway to the turn-off. Once.

No idea. Couldn't you just nip down Sandy Leas Lane, double back to Darlo Back Lane and Sadberge, then along the A66 path to Longnewton?

I might be up for this. What time do you think you’ll be at the pub?
Milk please, no sugar.
