Canon Powershot S20
« on: 30 December, 2013, 01:38:13 pm »
This has been in my desk drawer for years. It still works perfectly, I went on ebay to see if its worth anything but couldnt see anything like it. It was hugely expensive back in the day, I got it in 2000.

Is this worth anything ?

It was impressive in its day.  But that day was more than a decade ago, sadly.

I was going to suggest installing CHDK and using it for playing with timelapse, motion detection and other divers features, which can usually be done with venerable Canon compacts.

But the S20 isn't supported. Supported models.

Two recently sold on eBay for around £11 posted.  One failed to sell at £16 posted.  Advanced Search - Completed Items is how you find the value of things on eBay.

Having an optical viewfinder gives it a little advantage over most modern compacts.

I've got a minty S50 to sell.  They appear to go for £20 on a good day.  :(

The problem is that it won't be anywhere near as good as a new £50 Canon "snapper".  I have an S70 in mint condition (£300 back in the day) that will probably never get used again due to my £69 Powershot SX150.

That's a shame as the S70 is beautifully built (but it's just too "sluggish").
