Mercian paint is reassuringly expensive.

I'm seriously debating taking my Roberts frame up to them to get it painted after I get it mended.

That's because it's made of unicorns' tears.

I'd love to buy a custom bike though couldn't possibly justify one at the moment and won't be able to for some years.  Not that its a problem cos I love my existing bikes.

When I eventually do get a custom bike I would love to get one from someone relatively close to where I live as building a relationship with the person selling you your object of desire is all part of the fun.

This puts Roberts of Croydon in the frame.  Were I thinking of a Roberts my approach would be: "I gather your frames are wonderful but have heard awful reports about the quality of the paint job.  What are you going to do about it and thus convince me to spend shed loads of cash with you?"

Perhaps no-one has told them their painting is pants?

Van Nick do a very pretty Ti bike with a Rohloff - the Amazon, I think (not that I'm implying anything at all you understand).

Van Nicholas - Custom Bikes Online

Don't tell Mr R but if I get the job I'm after I plan on getting a van Nicholas Pioneer (but with drop bars).

Feck! It's heavier than my galaxy and it doesn't have pedals, mudguards, or racks added yet!!

I'm (finally*) picking up my new Enigma from Paul Hewitt on Friday.
I shall mainly be cycling on Saturday.
Photos will follow.

Not a criticism of Paul- his info has been spot on.
Enigma on the other hand ? Hhmmm  ::-)

Seeing that post at the top of a new thread means it can be easily read out of context :o   :o  :o

Peli,
If you mean that it actually exists, then I'm confident.
As for it being exactly what I thought I'd get, then there's more doubt.
Your experience (and that of others on here) is what makes me less than sure.
I'm being optimistic, which is out of character  :o
Fingers crossed....................

And congratulations making the statement most likely to lead this thread into NSFW that I've ever read.
On here, that's some comment !

I think it's a very good principle with very wide application.

And fingers crossed, Chocolatebike, for a happy outcome with your new bike :)

Just finished today's lesson, 4 days in a row at a school in Ealing, 15 very well behaved trainees, a joy to teach.

And got a thank you card from pretty much every trainee and 2 boxes of chocolate and a bottle of wine :)

There really ought to be a Good news and Bad news thread for this.

I just had an automated call supposedly from the Coop bank fraud department. Unusually for me I let it get as far as asking me to confirm my name by pressing 1 and then I got suspicious, put the phone down and phoned the bank.

It seems it was genuine and some piece of lowlife has tried to use our credit card to make an internet purchase. - Bad News

The bank refused it and have blocked the card. - Good News

They have asked me to destroy the card and I will get a new one in about five days. - Bad News.

We have recently used the card on line at Chain reaction, Dabs and Cartridgepeople. Not that I am inferring anything of course.  :demon:

Just read some of the thank you cards Woolly received. One has this picture of Twiggy on a bike on the front. Inside it reads:

"Dear Andy and Henrick,

Thank you for training  me on my cycle course.

My Mum says this is a cool card of Twiggy!

Best wishes,

Cristen

PS What is Twiggy? Hope you know"

As some of you know, JC has a friend staying over for a couple of days.  It has been an interesting, tiring and thought provoking time.  Much fun has been had and one young boy is growing up fast.  JC has never been out alone, for various reasons.  Today was his first time out with his friend, just to the lake and the farm for lunch.  It was a little nerve wracking for me at times but I am so proud of him.  Yes he fell over quite a lot but he is so happy.

Unfortunately he can barely walk now.  Assisted to get up the stairs, dragging his right leg behind him.  Tomorrow will be a wheelchair day for him.
