To the doctor or physio?
« on: 15 April, 2019, 02:04:43 pm »
Normally if I have an issue that can be described as musculo skeletal then I would go to straight to the physio and not bother with the GP. It saves hassle and means I can see the physio I want when I want.
I've been having an issue which I am finding difficult to pin down - it could be my hip/psoas, it could be my lower abdominals, or it could be something else completely different. I have back issues, which must play a part in this joint, but my back isn't having any direct symptoms right now. This issue has been niggling for a while, but not actually stopped me doing anything, however I think it's getting worse, hence the question.
To the doctors, or to the physio?

Internet advice is dodgy because information is incomplete.

True. And one can refer to the other I guess. I shall make an appointment...

Point is, from you OP, I have no clue as to what the 'issue' might be.
Is there pain?
How severe?
What kind? Sharp/dull/colicky etc
What brings it on, what relieves it?
How long does it last?
Associated symptoms-spasm/incontinence/vomiting/numbness/rash whatever
relationship to eating/bending/exertion/toileting
How long have you had this 'issue'?
What were you doing when/immediately before it started?

SO many questions!

I suggest you see a doctor (I would say that, wouldn't I?) so somebody can disentangle if your 'issue' is musculoskeletal or 'other'.

Is there pain? Yes
How severe? Minor to mild
What kind? Sharp/dull/colicky etc Varies between ache to muscle pull type.
What brings it on, what relieves it? Sitting still for a while, worse day after riding bike or walking significantly.
How long does it last? It comes and goes - pattern unclear
Associated symptoms- Nope.
relationship to eating/bending/exertion/toileting None as far as I can tell.
How long have you had this 'issue'? Probably a couple of months on and off
What were you doing when/immediately before it started? No idea - it's vague enough that I don't remember when it first arrived or why. Notably it's only on the right side, but that's the side with the tight back, so...

SO many questions!

I suggest you see a doctor (I would say that, wouldn't I?) so somebody can disentangle if your 'issue' is musculoskeletal or 'other'.

Answers in blue. If the answers were more definitive then it would probably be easier to understand the next step. Doctors booked - 1 May as it's "non-urgent".  ::-)

I don't believe Helly has mentioned her fees for online diagnosis as yet.

Silly me did not ask WHERE is the pain or whether it 'went' anywhere....
...that's why keyboard consultations might nor be wise.

You REALLY need TIME with a Clever Person who can talk, listen, look, feel, think and decide a Plan.

A physio might fill the space.

If symptoms persist, consult a physician...

Try both.
