Did amazing things with Watford, promoted right through the league system in 5 years, to runners up in the old First Division, and FA Cup finalists.
Suffered the curse of England managership.
72, that's not really an age.

Shame. Really nice man and didn't really do much worse, as England manager, than anyone else (apart from Alf Ramsey).
His miracles with Watford were his high-point.

Yep a shame. I liked him as a pundit on R5. As a scot, non-qualification for world cups is normal, I remember at the time thinking he was harshly dealt with, but I never got any sense of bitterness from him. A good guy.
