Cycle hire - forest of dean?
« on: 10 August, 2017, 10:29:15 pm »
We're planning a holiday in the Forest of Dean (near Lydney) with the in-laws and extended family; for reasons of logistics we're not going to be able to bring bikes, so I was wondering about cycle hire. Unfortunately the hire places I've found online all seem to target their pricing at the 'rent an MTB for a couple of hours to thrash it down the trails' market, which means hiring bikes for a couple of adults and kids for a couple of days is looking prohibitively expensive. Can anyone suggest anything local that might be more reasonable? Hybrids or whatever fine - they're just going to be used for family pootles.

Have you found Dean Forest cycles online?  They offer multi day & might be worth a call to negotiate?

You are right, it is very much 'families on the trails' - mainly from pedalabikeaway / cannop ponds tracks.  There is also a lot of bike traffic between Monmouth & Symonds Yat - Peregrine Trail. Might be some options either end & not too far from Lydney.

I'm in the 'shire so I not an expert on hiring locally, I'm afraid.
