Dropbox no longer supporting OSX or Windows
« on: 31 August, 2017, 01:21:59 pm »
I received an email from Dropbox this morning, stating that from January 2018 Dropbox will no longer support the above operating systems.

Has anyone else received anything similar?

No, but it might have been eaten by my spam folder. Your initial statement regarding Windows seemed a bit odd, so looking on the Dropbox website told me this:
Quote
On November 3, 2017, the Dropbox desktop application will no longer be available for download or install on devices that run the following operating systems:
Mac: OS X 10.6, OS X 10.7, OS X 10.8
Windows: Vista
On January 16, 2018, Dropbox will competely stop supporting these versions. On this date, you'll be automatically signed out of the Dropbox desktop application if you use it on a computer that runs one of these operating systems. You will no longer be able to access the Dropbox desktop application on that computer unless you update the operating system to a supported version.

So certain versions of OS X and Windows Vista.

Used Dropbox earlier this week and found I had to manually upload my file rather than drag'n'drop following recent 'improvement'. None too pleased.

Presumably the main purpose of wanky hotel wifi is for downloading Pr0n.

Dropbox disabled itself on my old Win XPsp3 machine** long ago, never mind Vista.  Like, a year ago.

** not my main PC, but I still expect to be using it for some tasks for a few years yet.
