Warm air heating
« on: 22 March, 2018, 11:12:00 pm »
My new abode has warm air heating. I can't afford to put in "proper" central heating just now, so I'm stuck with it. Poking around it seems that some of the ducting has gone AWOL, resulting in no heating in the kitchen nor in the bike store second bedroom. I'm about to go off on a google search, but has anyone here got any pointers as to what should be where and why there are so many ducts in the loft going to the ridge?   (Suspicions are that I've got my exhaust (?) vents and those for the flat below)

Has someone heroic been infiltrating your lair?  Sounds like you need to get your ducts in a row.

Well, I'd like to see a photograph, just for the hell of it.

It is probably a Johnson and Starley installation. You could try contacting them for advice.

Advantages: normally hugely reliable with 20  year plus life cycle and relatively low maintenance requirements. You dont say if it is gas or other. If gas annual servicing required.
Disads: drys you out, relatively expensive to run (older systems) blows dust around. Can be difficult to control temps.
