i've ridden from arnside to sedbergh and on to garsdale once, and didn't have to walk a great deal.  and that was over a year ago when i was even worse at hills, so it can't be that dreadful!  it was extraordinarily slow, mind.

one of the nicest days out on the bike ever too, that was :)

Okay, ready to do this now.  It was cold last night and I've tested out my kit for Friday, checked over the bicycle and I think I'm as ready as I'll ever be.  The route has been modified on billplumtree's advice, it's now Redcar - Arnside - Redcar and Mrs.shyumu is seeing me off from Redcar at 6pm(ish) on Friday night.  Bill is meeting me at Kirkby Lonsdale too; which I'm looking forward to, possibly about 1am?

I know it's only a 340km ride and I should probably just ride with no luggage and a set of lights, but I'm packing for my first lone-through-the-night adventure.  Warm clothes, brunch bars, painkillers and spare batteries in addition to the normal self-sufficiency gubbins.

Good to go.
