And I should mention the company which was, as ever, first rate.

Thank you, everyone, for coming along.  Other than a little precipitation and the three visitations, a pretty smashing day out.  I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Apologies for the length - I misjudged how long it would take with a larger group.    In case you were wondering, there was plenty more along the way which could have been pointed out, and there was a 20 minute diversion toward the end that we had to give a miss.  Just means you all need to do the ride again to hear/see the other bits. ;)

I do want to run this again in October for those who couldn't make it today (or anyone wanting a repeat).  I'll start a new thread, with potential dates, later this week.
;D  Andrij.  I pronounce you Complete and Utter GIT

That was fabulous!

I've seen more of London today than in the 21 years I've lived in the UK!

I'm not nearly as exhausted as I feared I'd be thanks to the lovely leisurely pace!

Many thanks to Andrij for that, it was absolutely ace!  :)

Thanks, Andrij,
Really enjoyed the half I managed to do.  I was sorry to have to leave after lunch, but as you said, the more the merrier and also the slower.  It's always the way with friendly, social rides, and, if I hadn't had a week of lessons to sort, I would happily have hung on for the North Bank.   But we had done the best half already, hadn't we?  (I'm a loyal patriot)

Is anyone else suffering though? Clarion and TGL are both a bit bleugh and I wonder if it was something they ate  :-\

They had a great ride though.

Thankee for ogranising this, shipmate Andrij. Rollockin' shenanigans on the good ship Woolwich Ferry.
Sorry I deserted me shipmates at a puncture stop - had to sail off to see Brian Wilson singing the Ship John B (of course).

I'm a bit bleugh, but I think that was missing a nights sleep and 100 miles of cycling the day before, rather than anything I ate (and I think I ate different stuff to both of them anyway).

A panoramic shot taken from near Chez Scum, which seems to have worked out OK.

I'll keep an eye for the re-run, as unfortunately I was otherwise occupied on Saturday/Sunday.

Our starting point

Tim Hall's steed for the day.

Listening to our tour guide

Some of the weirdness

Gorilla surrealness outside City Hall

Bronzes with the City in the background

The normal suspects, whilst a brief comfort stop was made

Wow getting comfy next to a chap with some very strange dimensions

Lunch almost over

A bit of a ship

A gate to nowhere

There are a handful of other pictures here, along with the full sized originals.
Actually, it is rocket science.

If anyone wondered where we went, the route is here (on GPSies).  It's a bit iffy around places with tall buildings, such as the start, but you can probably work out where we were supposed to be!  It starts at the Southwark Needle, and ends near there, at the entrance to London Bridge Underground.

Actually, it is rocket science.

Hmm... I at least should've joined you all for lunch, as it was across the road from here. Anyway, I'll join the next one. My shoulder's back to normal, and I've seen the physio for my ankle today who recommends I ride as much as I wish.

Sorry for the late response, but as I've been away working. And sleeping in a castle.

Anyway...

Andrij, that was just a great day. I love points of interest on a ride, and try to include a few when I organise Tandem Club runs. This ride had loads. And such great company too. And free extra fenestral bananas. And a machine for making nekkid ladies, even if they were a bit rough. Mrs. Hall and The Boy enjoyed themselves as well. Believe me, when The Boy says "it was OK" that counts as high praise.

Next time I'll bring lights, promise.

I got that too, but cut'n'paste got me there.  Formatting looks OK to my deeply untrained eye...

Lovely pics, though.  Got to say.

And nekkid ladies.

Hmm. Odd. Works here in Firefox and Iron. And it's the same link I used on Cycle Chat.
