Overhauling an old Brompton
« on: 21 May, 2017, 09:36:49 pm »
I was thinking no of giving my wife Brompton a new set of brakes, rear clip and any other bits and pieces the bike shop felt like selling me.

Any recommendations as to where? It looks like Simpson’s has gone.

Thanks. A

You could try finding your local Brompton dealer

Thanks Zipper,

Since the place in Kentish Town has shutdown I was hoping for some recommendations. However, I've booked it in with Brompton in Covent Garden- a little speedy but I will keep you posted.  .

Well for me the Brompton dealer  par excellence is Phoenix Cycles near Battersea Park.

Or Cyclecare Kensington (Earls Court Road) who also have a branch just outside Swindon (because Tim, the owner, lives there).

So, I've just picked up J's Brompton from Brompton Junction.

I could not be more happy with the work they have done.  Every time I look at the bike I spot a new bit they have fitted. Everything has been cleaned. Cables replaced, little dodad that the gear cable fits into changed, new leavers, new callipers, new tyres, new tubes, new reflectors (ffs), saddle, suspension block, twizzly bits for doing up the frame, a bung on the bottom of the seat tube.

You name it - it's new.

Brompton Junction ***** 5 stars

J is happy too.

Meanwhile, another customer is being handed a knackered Brompton and shaking their head, saying, "I'm sure mine was purple...and it had reflectors on it."

How much were you charged for the overhaul? I'm thinking of getting my ageing Brompton a refresh.

Hi Goldcrank, could you PM me also please, as I have an old Brompton in need of some TLC, and I was looking forward to getting a feel for what it might cost.
