Scotrail - what a bunch of complete wankers.   Methinks my regular sojourns north of the border may have come to an end.   Maybe the danes and the dutch would prefer my tourist pounds.

IIRC the tickets are released on one day but the discounted tickets may be released at some point later. Keep trying and the discounted ones may turn up.

Good news: The Village of the Damned is on ITV4 tonight.

Bad news: It's the 2005 remake.

GN: I kept the box when I last replaced my bottom bracket so I knew what size I need.

BN: Can I find it? Hell no, it is, I'm sure, somewhere safe  ::-)

GN: The plumber who was supposed to come on Wednesday is here to mend the shower. And he's brought the builder with him to fix the broken kitchen window.

BN: I was just wondering whether to wash my hair before going out for a ride, now I'll have to stay in.

GN: At least I wasn't already washing my hair when they arrived!

BN: Now my hair is just dirty. But it doesn't stink like the builder's old jacket.

We accepted an offer on our house today.

The house we wanted was sold 2 days ago (after being on the market for 18 months or so).

Is the housing market picking up?

Reckon it might be.  I was kind-of amazed that the place next door sold within a couple of months, given that the asking price really wasn't that low for an "in need of modernization".  Still waiting to find out exactly what it went for...

Back on topic...  GN: I'm feeling much better after a bout of probably-Norovirus.  BN: poor Emily now seems to have it instead  :(

GN:  On the way to the ride this morning, I passed my MyCyclingLogs target.

BN:  It was last year's target - 12 days late.
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

GN: I appear to have put a desposit down on a new bike

BN: The intended plan was to look at bikes and sleep on it first

GN: The shop are willing to order in both sizes that I might fit (the only one in stock was too big but tried similar geometry smaller frames and think we've picked a size) and I can decide on the day.

BN: Now I have to waaaaaaaait, possibly till early March.

GN: That gives me time to actually get the money to pay for it  :-\

BN: But I want it nooooooooooow!  ;D

Good news: Were getting an extension and it's a hell of a lot cheaper than I thought it would be! Cost about 1/4 of my guess. It's to be a sewing/sitting room, and bike parking.
Bad news: Guess who's digging the footings and general labouring? You can have three guesses but you'll only need one.  ::-)

And here's me having decided pretty much the opposite ...

Good news: I got to the station ahead of time and caught an earlier train.

Bad news: it's a slow train and the one that I normally catch has just passed us.

I suppose the fact that everyone else was headed for the other platform should have been a big clue

Bad news: Virgin Media - with whom I am generally satisfied - have put my bill up.

Good news: This prompted me to call them with some bollocks about moving to Sky.

Good news: All I really wanted was a Tivo box, but they offered me that & a reduction in my bill of £12.

Bad news: I couldn't get them to drop the £50 installation charge. Still, I am £94 up on the 12-month deal.

Good news: Diss council have salted the cycle path to Tesco
Bad news: It's turned compacted snow that wasn't very slippery at all into four inches of slushy goop that is (a) really slippery, (b) filthy and (c) by the looks of it, really hard to push a push chair through.

Good Work

Bad: A pair of Josef Seibel shoes that were just getting nicely worn in have split across the soles. I've only had them a year.

Good: Despite me not having the receipt, I sent them back to Josef Seibel who have now sent me a new pair.
