An anthropologist from teh north working at the University of Sussex, living in Brighton but founder of NIP, the Northern Independence Party.  He espouses the view that the north is now effectively an independent country called Northumbria.

Or something along those lines.

Surprised to see that somebody so passionate about the north lives and works in the south.

Sunak.  For whining about the vile, poisonous political atmosphere we now "enjoy".  The atmosphere that he and his cronies in parliament & the press have spent the last decade or so actively creating, and encouraging, and which he's been happy to play along with.  Sunak, the (un)Thinking Right Wing Nutjob's favourite sock-puppet.

Frank Hester. Seems like just the sort of person you want to fund your political party  ::-)

Just reading this on the rules at his company

And they have reminded me of the locally infamous (in my career community) lab with the 'no laughing, no farting, no burping' policy.

I am unsure about this.
If I have a private conversation with someone and exaggerate for comedic effect, I don't see why taking that out of context is rage worthy.
I think all Tories are terrible and should be shot.
I hate all biologists and death is too good for them.
Etc.

Given his record I wouldn't necessarily assume he was exaggerating for comedic effect...

It's racism. Doesn't matter whether it is private or not. And he's a massive Tory donor which suggests he's trying to buy influence.

Trying (and succeeding) to buy NHS contracts.

It makes you wonder how much NHS money is squandered by giving contracts to Tory mates like this.

£billions...

It's not the contracts for clinical care that are the issue (IS providers get paid the same the NHS would for the activity) but the support services, like 'consultancy', patients records, federated data platforms, PFI new builds, etc. where the real money is to be made by those who grease political palms.

Mel Stride, Cabinet Minister, on Frank Hester's comments about Diane Abbott:

Quote
“It’s clear that what he said was inappropriate. He has, as I understand it, apologised for those remarks. I think the critical point here is I don’t think what he was saying was a gender-based or a race-based comment, but it was clearly inappropriate. He has apologised and I think we need to move on from that.”

These are the shits who are governing our country...

How can Fester's comment about shooting black people be interpreted as anything other than racist, Stride?  That alone qualifies you for the coveted accolade of Super-Twat.

I am pretty certain that any ordinary person posting similar but replacing Diane Abbott'name with oh, let's say Kemi Badenoch's name would find a knock on their door pretty damned soon.

But if that person belatedly expressed regret, would that be alright?

As it is these words may well incite yet another tragic and unnecessary incident fuelled by the hate wars of the right but against a random black woman this time.  I suppose Badenoch thinks this is acceptable too, eh?

Congratulations Badenoch, you have unlocked the highest elite level of super twattishness.

They dug out old Kwasi to comment too. He is very much "If the comments happened" "we don't know the comments happened" "I don't have a source" while admitting it's racist and sexist AF. I also note Kwasi didn't comment on the violent nature of those comments.

Really is one rule for them and their mates and a different rule for everyone else.

Calling someone scum is not intrinsically violent or bigoted either.
