Easter Arrows 2015 April 3rd/4th
« on: 11 January, 2015, 10:32:33 pm »
They're not a qualifier, but they're still (mostly) good fun - for audax values of fun.

We're slightly nervously toying with the idea of Tandem Insanity 2015. Anyone (with a tandem) interested?

I know there's a couple of VC167 teams, who else will we be seeing in York?

There will be at least two AC Bristol teams.
Nothing finalised yet but probably one team fixed and the other team....err......with me in it.

A fixed arrow sounds like a laugh.

The notorious Essex Arrow team consisting of 2 x fixed, 2 x gears and a recumbent had assorted 'cohesion' issues.....all/none on fixed would maybe have helped  ::-) Needless to say we failed, but it was also partly to do with the 2013 snowpocalypse.

We have an embryonic Essex team for this year, but more willing workers welcome.

I'm up for an arrow team of misfits from Essex/Lundun way.

Taking the easy option this year and going on holiday instead of setting out on a doomed team event and packing.

And hopefully with someone who can read a map!

Note you also have GPX.  Perhaps 2 x GPX would have been more persuasive!

I have sympathy for your viewpoint and I know it seems like rumours, but there are actually successful teams!

2011 DNE
2012 DNS- broken wrist
2013 DNF- Snowtastic
2014 DNF- James Cook Memorial Hospital visits...

If all goes to plan I'm afraid that the CrinklyCakeMobile won't be in attendance this year, as we're hoping to be in forrin parts that weekend...

I am keeping that weekend free to do the organisers version of the Auld Alliance 400km event but....

If I manage to do it any sooner (late March maybe) I might ride a DIY400 (*) to York just to join in the post event revelry, but I cant commit to an arrow.

They're not a qualifier, ...

I thought they were BRM?

Doesn't matter and reasons don't come into it. Arrows are team BRM events and aren't PBP qualifiers.
Wheel meet again, don't know where, don't know when...

I've always admired your cheery optimism :)

I haven't made any plans to ride yet - I'd happily join a team, but I'm not organising again after my last two efforts.

Your organisation has always been excellent; barring one small mistake... the rather limp team you put together.  That'll teach you to invite friends rather than top-quality audaxers.

No, I'll accept the captain's responsibility.

The rest of it was just beyond organisation. I'm not superstitious, but...

I'd be happy to resurrect Lakes Velo, but am unlikely to start mustering a team just now - back end of Feb I think.  Have thought that looping South to Lincoln and crossing the Humber is possibly off the agenda - did not like the bit N of the bridge and there are just sooo many all night MacDonalds to choose from.

I'll have it on the gps this time & make sure we get out of Lincoln in time for the last few legs.
The pub stop "wherever it was" took too long last time & we spent ages in St Neots too

the pub was at "west burton ?" and was excellent ( could have stayed all night  ). perhaps a flatter route to York ( via Goole ? )

Looks like Lakes Velo is currently up to 2 members.  Probably set off from Grange-o-Sands, Cark or one of the stations on that line.
