Tom, I might join you for the helpers ride, I suspect I can bring the full army of Tippers_kiwis to help at the finish if you like.

Great - though you might have to wrestle Delthebike for control of the stamps! How would the Mini Miss Tippers's be with table service?

Wonderful to have all the offers, but I reckon 3 helpers is about right, so if you do want to ride...around 30 finishers last couple of years, and we've only 22 entries at present, but once the dust has settled on the 600km qualifiers, I'm betting there will be more.

Sadly I'll be in the Dolomites that weekend. Would have been nice as a fairly localish ride, after the PBP qualifiers..

A card-stamper at Cambridge would work - where would you like to hang around from 11-12pm-ish?

Next to The Trailer Of Life at kicking-out time?  :demon: ;D

If it's excitement the riders are after, I'm sure there must be a suitable estate pub in the Arbury...

Histon road garage would work for me; I'm across town in Cherry Hinton, but it's only 25 minutes or so away. What are the control times?

A card-stamper at Cambridge would work - where would you like to hang around from 11-12pm-ish? The garage up the Histon Road is most riders' refuelling stop...not absolutely necessary, but otherwise it's a long trek to the Pag and somewhere to sit down and eat. A familiar face would make it less lonely.

anywhere is fine by me as I will have the car, the garage we stopped at last year could be used for it

Any more for the curry - 18:00 Friday week?

...& the helpers' ride - looks like just me and I-cycle this Friday?

Not certain about the curry, but I've signed up for the ride.

This is definately going to be a full value ride for me, there's no way I can go through the night without sleep and I'm guessing I'll need to do a couple of short naps, rather than one longer one.

I'll be easy to spot, I'll be the one at the back who's holding his eyes open with cocktail sticks and checking his info answers with anyone he finds, because with 7 of them and me in zombie mode I know I'll mess some of those up!

On the bright side I like to do at least one ride that's new to me each year and it'll be my first through the night ride - you can tell can't you!

...Typically first riders in around 9:30-10:00 [fast'uns doing each 100km in 4-ish hours], then a trickle until the main rush around lunchtime - that's 15-16 hour riders. Full value riders have until 17:00, but I can cope with last few hours solo if necessary.

So, if you made it here for mid-morning that would be great, as likewise I can deal with the first few hours by myself. Anyone really speedy will have instructions to text me from the penultimate control to tell me to get my skates on and get frying early!

So I have to ask, what is he official view as to a Curry being suitable Audax fuel? I can see it sitting a bit heavily in my stomach. OTOH I'm guessing that good food stops on the rest of the route will be in short supply :)

One piece of good news, I just remembered that I did a DIY 200k earlier in the season, so if I do finish this one it'll give me another Essex SR  ;D

Works for me - you don't need genetic testing to see if you have those paleaolithic genes: if you can just shovel in anything, you've got a lot of hunter-gatherer ancestors.

There are a lot of 24 hour garages in the first half, but things improve after the 'Pag'.

Ho alright then, put me down for the curry too.

I must remember to restock my supply of toilet paper in my saddle bag  ;D  Yeah I know, too much information!

Yikes Del — GWS!

Anyway, GPS files are all hereabouts:  http://www.camaudax.uk/rides/hereward-the-wake-300/.  I've created 1x300km and 3x100km versions in multiple flavours, so you should find something that suits.

Checked last weekend and all good — thanks Tippers!

Sorry to hear that Del, I am sure the girls will be inappropriately pleased to get their hands on the Stamps.

Tomsk, just to confirm, I am still good to come over on Saturday, probably with all the Tippers in tow.

The updated one is going out to you all soon, probably tomorrow, as I've a date on the sofa with Mrs T this evening, having been out most of the weekend! It's on Aukweb already and I've popped the paper copies in the post for those that need them.

Excellent, and Wilkyboys TCX with every hedge marked is loaded.... Will be weird, probably a 'normal' sized field and no one to tailgate then.... Driving up Friday night so see you on the line pretty close to time.

Essential to know where the hedgerows are in the 'bleaklands'!

I just hope the curry doesn't require too many bushes to be found!  ;D

Talking of which, where's the best place to lock up my bike at the pub / restaurant?

Tonight I'll start looking for likely sleeping spots on the route, probably around 100k, 150k & 200k. I expect to turn into a cycling narcoleptic not long after midnight!

We climb out of the bleaklands after about 125km into rolling, hedge-strewn countryside  ;)  Many decent pee/sleep spots after Sharnbrook, and quite a few before then.
