The South Westerly breeze we have had all day, here in Ely (about 1/3 way) has dropped.

Fairly clear skys, but no moon (new phase), so you're going to find out just how inky-black the Fens can be at night.  :demon:

Hope to see some of you at Cambridge station later...

"overhaul" it, or you can ride it.  (Jerome K Jerome)

Just about to set off for Ely- currently wearing white linen shirt & Jasper Conran cord jeans as I'm going to see a band at an Ely pub 'til the train is due.   ;D

Just as well I'm not on this ride. I could never hope to reach this level of sartorial elegance. I'm a more "Sports Direct cycling shirt and cheap shorts" kinda guy.
Besides, it wouldn't be audacious if success were guaranteed.

Major disappointment for me: late train in to Leeds meant I missed the Stevenage train (change there for Cambridge). The guard said stay on 'til York and get a train from there. It was also running late and there was no guarantee that there would be a Cambridge train or if there had been I'd have arrived very late.
There were epic efforts from the other ride leaders and some CCers to send me the route but it would have been hard to catch up and there was still the risk I'd get stuck in Stevenage.
I'm nearly home now. There is beer in the fridge.

Compared to what I'd got planned, it's not.

I changed into a YACF shirt and cycling shorts for actual ride  :smug: :smug:

Booh hiss - It's time that elegance returned to the clothes worn when cycling, especially at night.  Were you on a recumbent?

I wasn't on a recumbent, but Kim rode on her Red Baron, and we had a ICE trike.

I have previous for dapper outfits for cycling, but tend not to at night...

I didn't take photos on the ride, apart from queuing for the ferry to cross the tidal Great Ouse, at King's Lynn (also posted in the 'ferry pictures' thread).

Golden years.

Three YACF crew from that ride were also on last night's ride!  :D :D :D :D :D

Great to see FBOAB & Kim again,  :-*

Good to meet NickB and MsG - Thanks for leading & 'All-upping' the ride.

Great ride and pleasing to be on both home territory and venturing into new areas west of Lynn.

Interesting perspective from the All Upper end of the ride, and big thanks to everyone who chatted along the way ^_^.
Ferry ride was brilliant.
Four of us did the ride back to Ely with the predicted headwinds for the Fenland fun, lovely sunshine on the river.
Good to meet Wobbly John and Kim.
Thanks to NickB and Rob for guidance :-)

Funny bits:
Attempting to All Up a hi-viz wearing scarecrow on the outskirts of Little Downham. :shy:
Later on in a village further north of the cafe (in daylight) spotting another hiz-viz humanoid, declaring I wasn't going to get caught out All Upping a dummy again - which then moved!! Poor chap was waiting for a bus :laugh:
Flinging a chair about in an attempt to give Leigh a hug at Welney.
Thinking the Friday Bridge village sign was a tribute to horror movies (Friday 13th etc) with a chainsaw wielding madman on it - kind folks pointed out it was a fisherman!
