Thanks was just about to ask you the process for entering as a team

Once it's opened I'll let you know and I'll book us in as a team. I assume I'll need real names of entrants rather than just bobb, fboab, PaulF and teethgrinder  :P

How imaginative are we going to be with the team name? I suppose "Team YACF" is a start...

I'm swithering.
I have no real idea how long this thing will take to properly heal, and sitting on the back of a tandem doing road miles is not the same as throwing an MTB between the trees.
I think you should count me out just now.

If it turns out it's bionic you've got (if I read the rulz correctly) until 10th September to add me, or can pay an extra £5 to change between then and 22nd September.

Ok, I did wonder about your participation!

Maybe enter as a three and then change (preferably before Sept) should fboab (or anyone else for that matter) want to join in?

Yes, either that or enter as a 4 and change it if we don't have 4 riders before the cut off.

So, just over a month to go! How's our training going?  :P

I was thinking about possibly doing a warm up the weekend before: Two Counties Tour, Sunday 30 September 2012

Will start getting some more MTB miles in over the next few weeks...

Training?!?  Isn't that cheating?

As the nettle rash on my legs will testify I've got a few offroad miles under my belt recently, but looking at mycyclinglogs I'm not in your league. Two house moves in 2 months have curtailed my mileage???

Hopefully I won't let the side down

That's just the thing. My entry is in the post. 80km ride for me.
I had a ride along the canal on Saturday, had a big steak in Wetherspoons, then rode home via the Greensand Ridge. That's about all the training I've done so far.

I move house on Tuesday so doubt that I'd be too popular if I shot off to the Two Counties

Well, you've got a bike, haven't you?
I'll ride over Friday after work, camp overnight, do the ride, camp overnight and ride home on Sunday.

Fair one  :P

I'll see if I can figure a mostly off road route to get there. Don't fancy 30 odd miles of road on knobblies. Either that or commandeer a motor car  :demon:

Do you have somewhere in mind to camp?

There's no way my wrist will be strong enough. I can ride a solo road bike, but I suffer for it. MTB-ing is just too big an ask.  :(

Not especially. I had a google last night and came up with The 3 Horseshoes pub, which has camping but doesn't have showers. It's also next to Stanstead Airport.
If I don't find anything better, it'll be that. There are a few near Saffron Walden too.

A mate of mine has expressed an interest. He has a motor car  :)

If he can't make it, it'll probably be camping for me too...

Are you still coming bobb?
I'll probably get the train instead of camping.
It'll probably be a mud fest after all the rain. Boy, am I going to be popular on the train home. ;D

I'd forgotten about that! Right - I need to see if I can scab a lift - it's replacement bus services from Chelmsford on Sunday  ::-)

Of course - I can ride the bus bits, so I'll try and find out where they're to and from..

No idea if my mate still wants to do it (not answering phone), but not to worry - I managed to slip the fact that I was contemplating getting a train on Sunday into conversation with my mother and she's offered to give me a lift!  :P

Ok, I notice it says start is from 9:30, so I assume we can start when we like? I need to sign up as I didn't pre-register. I aim to get there maybe some time just before 9....

Any information in your registration email worth knowing? Is food and stuff available? I know magic hats are mandatory - so I'll bring mine along...
