Title: Cassette fitting advice - please
Post by: Double J on 15 January, 2012, 10:30:40 pm
New Mavic SLs and new ultegra 10 speed cassette to be fitted, hub already had a relatively wide spacer supplied, so not sure if the initial narrower spacer supplied with the cassette also needs fitting, as seems strange to have 2 spacers next to each other. If one is surplus to requirements, which one is it?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Tewdric, thanks for the input.
That was one hell of a quick reply.
Cheers JJ

Use only enough spacers to ensure to lockring does not bottom on its threads - i.e. it can just  fully  compress the spacers and sprocket cluster. Too little engagement - potentially stripped threads and poor alignment

I've been at home with a chest infection - FAR too much time on my hands!  ;D

I've been trying to picture someone's skip bike fitted with Mavic SLs and Ultegra. Be quite keen to see what their good bike looked like too!
