Windsor and back - Sunday June 28
« on: 25 June, 2009, 08:06:08 am »
Another Lewisham Cyclists ride though you maybe won't find it on the normally wonderful Lewisham Cyclists - Home Page page because of a temporary webmaster/PC interface issue.

Distance: 85 miles for full return trip - about half that if you train it back from Windsor

Full trip might make a good preparation for the Dynamo next weekend. If you can do this you should have no real problems with the Dynamo.

Lots of riverside views and a trip through the central part of Windsor Great Park which is closed to normal four-wheeled traffic. Probably a short stop at the Commonwealth Air Forces memorial - great views.

If you just want to do half of the route, you can train it back from Windsor - we'll take it fairly easy getting to Windsor, just making sure that we get to the pub before last food orders. Please bear in mind that as a Lewisham Cyclists ride the field MAY BE (maybe not) fairly mixed. We drop people if they are really slow/make no perceived effort to match the speed of the group, but otherwise we try to keep people together.

The return trip should be a fair bit faster and will also pass other railway stations.

If you want to see a report of the last time we did this, go to
Lewisham Cyclists - Home Page, click on Gallery and find June 2006.

Suitable for any bike though full-on racers might find the riverside route there a bit wearing. I’ll be doing it on a narrow-tyred fast city bike though. Return all on road.

Since this is a particularly long ride, please bring snacks. And lights just in case

Meet: Cutty Sark Gardens 08:30 PROMPT, Peckham Rye railway station 09:00

Peckham Rye pick-up: We won't leave before 9. If you get there before and we aren't there, just wait for us inside the ticket hall.
