Leave Oxford station at midnight. Flattish ride across water meadows and through small-town Friday night boozeramas to Chinnor, where Chinnor Hill awaits, a mile of grind. Then it's downhill to High Wycombe, pop into Tesco for bogs and comestibles, brew a cup of tea and then through the forested stockbroker belt (and Ozzy Osbourne's house), over the M25 and the nicest way into London I know. Breakfast at Paulo's Cafe in Acton, then home to bed.
