It may be worth considering a BBQ back at the tents.

Tesco's disposibles are really excellent and the campsite owner has breeze-blocks stacked nearby to put them on.

It's an option I'd prefer tbh (I'm a bit bored of staying sober enough to figure out the money, I'd rather be shit-faced and tripping over hot coals) and it allows for greater mingling than formal seating in the pub.
It means we can take our time on the ride rather than rushing back for the meal...etc

There are plenty of Supermarkets in town for BBQ essentials.

What's the general concensus?

Shitfaced and burnt sounds pretty appealing to me too!

Those dates work for us at the moment. I've put it in the diary :)

We know something you didn't know then.  :D

BUMP

 ;D
The bump should be getting on for 3 months old by then, so who knows?! I may not be up to a long ride though.

Miss Z would definitely prefer a barbecue, especially if there is farting.

It's a CAMRA real-ale pub...there will be farting.

BBQ it is then.

Obviously meals are still available in the bar and restaurant but you will need to make your own arrangements.

I'll probably eat in the bar on Friday evening myself, or lead a ride out to another local pub/restaurant.

The Real Life Event that might have clashed with this has been confirmed as the weekend before - I think I might be in favour of the hilly excursion.  ;D

Bollocks. I just discovered this thread and was planning on turning up, but it clashes with my Mums 70th this year (big family party). So normally I can make it work but this year  its a no go  :(

= PLEASE CONFIRM WITH A PM TO ME ==
I'll pop up to the pub this week and have a chat to make sure it's all OK (maybe we can get the adjacent field to ourselves again).

This year will be very informal and will be BBQ based rather than an organised meal.

My plan is to warn them that YACFers will be calling to make reservations and that we will mostly be using disposable BBQs.

Would be useful if you sent me a PM to let me know who, how many and if you will be having a BBQ (I can buy them in Tesco if you let me know in advance, I'll be driving up).

I may amend the Saturday ride slightly this year.  Leckford Estates (John Lewis/Waitrose) are opening a Farm Shop/Tea room at their garden centre this week.  It's an absolutely lovely half-mile detour into the centre (Antonio Carluccio was there at the weekend's open day).  See page 1, OP, for route details including optional detour..

It's not far away now so PM me with details so I can give them some numbers.  Booking will be left to you to do individually.

I'll be arriving on Friday evening, about 6:30pm, and I'll probably book a meal in the pub.

I'd still like to but it's looking increasingly unlikely I'll be able to take a weekend off.

I think we'll be there but I'm still faffing with other trips yet. Once they are settled I'll book some tickets - although it seems a pretty good option is just to use the network railcard to Andover.
