Dan Harty is almost inside the last 400km. Matt Seward is 35km behind him, and TG is another 30km back, then another 30km to Martin Haubold. Pretty small margins over that kind of distance. Incredibly impressive riding by all of them.

Andrew Waddington is inside the last 300km but is doing the shorter route, cutting out all the coastal loops. He's not far behind Dan on the road but has ridden about 500km less. Still an impressive feat of endurance.

Looking at the stats (and assuming they are accurate) Mat and Steve have stopped for nearly twice as long as Dan. He's on the home stretch with a big lead but has he banked enough sleep to crack on to the end or is their a twist in the tale of the race?

Didn't I read something about an enforced 3hr stop every 24 ?

They’re allowed two 24 hour periods where they skip that.

The speed vs time graphs don’t always show stops as zero speed throughout, but rather a diagonal line dropping to zero only at the end - you can see one in Dan’s at the 110 hour mark that’s very likely a multi hour stop.

Possibility of Dan and Steve passing each other on the road as Dan returns from the Lambs Head headland they are currently heading out to.

Less than 5km between the front two. This is going down to the wire.

Lee has stopped in Tarbet after getting an evening crossing from Kilrush.  Wise as other than Tralee there's not a lot till over Conor pass into Dingle. He's gone the B&B route rather than bivvy.

Teethgrinder firmly in third place.   Looks like the front 2 are a bit far away now.

Dan, currently in first place, is suffering badly from Shermer's Neck. He seems to think it might not happen for him. He's only about a hundred km from the finish too.

Dan has removed himself from the race. He only had 20km to go.

Oh that is really sad. Well tried.

Hope Dan rests up and is back doing his thing in due course.

I had to stop on the Wild Atlantic Way Audax in 2016 due to Shermer's neck. I was about 100km from the finish; it is heartbreaking at the time.   But time and distance heals even if unfinished business lingers.  Good luck in his recovery.

That’s really rotten luck. Hope he recovers soon.

Well done Matt and Steve though.

Matt’s achievement is all the more remarkable considering what a relative latecomer he is to cycling.

Whole bunch of riders will be finishing tonight, including Lee Killestein.  Final keg for them with major hills out of the way.

What is the background behind the comment on the website for 2020:

"We’re not a race any more.
What does that mean ?
I’ve no idea but probably not that much."
