I would suggest we aim to set off from the 'spoons at about 10am.  Thoughts and feedback?

So is that breakfast at 9.30?

Or earlier. Bar opens at 9am.

Merry Christmas all, I hope you're having a festive time.

I decided my proposed route to The Thatcher's Arms was a tad long and didn't allow enough time for dawdling plus anything else which takes our fancy so how about THIS ROUTE?

What do we think?

Not as bad as usual

Though I might avoid the fleshpots of Tiptree and go through Messing, Grange road, School lane, Easthorpe Road, Rectory road. Makes it shorter, so you might be able to visit the Alma in Copford or whatever that pub's called in Messing.

Isn't there going to be any inappropriate off-roading this year?

As long as it's appropriate.

Or inappropriate.

Hello!

Happy New Year and all that nonsense, I hope you all enjoyed the festive season.

I have just emailed the Thatcher's Arms with the lunch orders for 10 of our number.  If you haven't been able to pre-order NEVER FEAR rock up for lunch anyhow.  Indeed, just turn up at Witham's 'spoons ready for a 1000hrs departure and let the day unfold - winging it is what we do best.

I shall aim to be at 'spoons between 0830 and 0900hrs so that I can get on the outside of a cooked breakfast and a cheeky pint.  At the moment the forecast for Saturday is cloudy and chilly but dry.

So is the route set then? The shortened version of the outward leg, and the other one back to Littley Green? Given the northerly wind forecast, I don't mind the shorter route. I've even spotted the bit of the route that deviates away from the road, but it looks like a paved path, not some mudfest.

Yes, we will be following the shorter route to The Thatcher’s Arms.

Hello people, how are you?

I am using this portion of the festive period to put more flesh on the Epiphany bones.

So far I have received lunch choices from me, Tomsk, psyclist, Oaky and Christophe.  Is that it???

I have also knocked up these route suggestions.  Leg 1 from Witham 'spoons to the Thatcher's Arms and Leg 2 to The Compasses.

I would suggest we aim to set off from the 'spoons at about 10am.  Thoughts and feedback?

Hi Steve - can I suggest rather than using the main road RBT crossing under the A131 at Blackley Lane (33.5km, R@T Mill Lane, L@T on to London Road,  L before RBT rejoins route at your current 36km) ?
Regards,

Joergen

When we get to the offending segment feel free to surge to the front with rousing shouts of "Follow me chaps, tally ho, tally ho!!!"

That would work so well if you were to synchronise the music to be playing Charge of the Light Brigade at that moment

I shall expect jibers to sing said music as he surges.  I wonder if there's time to buy him a bugle?
