Only in roosts [1]. Outside of roosts it is not an issue. It is an offence to enter a known roost without a licensed bat worker, and a separate license is needed for flash photography in a roost.
And a third license [2] is needed for keeping dead bats.

These are not roosting. We are well aware of the law and stay within it.

I may have misunderstood Anne Youngman when we were out researching bats.

The test is not the photography, the test is whether it adversely disturbs them. Photographing them feeding on a pond is not a problem. Disturbing them in a roost is.

Probably a good idea then to have ordinary people thinking that you may not photograph bats.

Some penguins. And lasers (sharks day off). Yes this was at midnight. Midsummer in Scotland is not good for night photography.

A quick trip to makerspace as the material had arrived - and now the lab cafe has some new masks for the cappucino.

Jacqui the barrista loved them

Left a camera on an island. It was cold. Then it got a little otter.

This made me titter. Where it's positioned in the tread leaves it looking like the top pic is looking up at the birds in the photo directly above  :). Lovely photos too.

I count ten images per drop, which is right for a 0.1s exposure and a 50Hz (so the light flashes at 100Hz) supply.
