Does anyone know where you can buy old versions of AutoCAD? Something like the 2007 or 2008 LT versions would be fine - it's for a Windows 10 PC (64 bit).

I looked on eBay, and even AC LT 2012 is going for £325. I’d suggest something like DraftSight which can use the DWG format and is much cheaper.

Seconded Draftsight.  The free version is AutoCAD in all but name. However I have just seen this:

IMPORTANT:

DraftSight 2019 for Windows® is offered in paid versions only.
Once you download and install DraftSight 2019 (free 30-day trial or purchased version), you will no longer be able to redownload or access any previous free version of DraftSight (2018 or earlier).
All free versions of DraftSight (2018 or earlier) will cease to run after 12/31/2019.

The paid for version is £79 a year.

DoubleCad XT5 by image design is a free DWG format cad that I use but takes a bit of learning as slightly different to AutoCad.  I have a 2000's copy of LT on CD which is fine if you have a 32 bit PC - won't run on 64 bit hence the move to DoubleCad.  I tried draftsight but can't have liked it as I now use DoubleCad

Double Cad has far more functionality than I need and appears to be a bit resource hungry at times but it works fine.

Autodesk fusion 360 any good?  It is free for personal and small business use.

I've just started playing with Fusion 360 on the hobbyist/startup licence. It is quite good: looks very powerful, but taking me a while to get to grips with it.

This channel has a lot of video tutorials (including 3 for beginners) that are excellent.
