(Types while very unwelcome Chris de Burgh earworm is on continuous loop in my head...)

I'm sure we weren't the first, nor the last to do this one. Sadly no pictures, as it was far too long ago and any pics are long since lost.

We called it the Betty Swollocks Memorial Ride (but I don't think the majority got it. Ho hum).

Meet at Portsmouth Harbour Station. Take the Gosport ferry to... Gosport.
Ride Gosport to Warsash
Warsash to Hamble ferry
Ride Hamble to Southampton.
So'ton Town Quay to Hythe ferry
Ride Hythe to Lymington across the New Forest
Lymington to Yarmouth IoW ferry
Ride Yarmouth to W.Cowes.
Cowes river chain ferry, also known as the Floating Bridge across the Medina
Ride E.Cowes to Ryde
Ryde to Portsmouth ferry

Six ferries in one day. Or to ring the changes, you can come back from Ryde on the hovercraft but they only take 2 bikes per crossing.

For the next year we were going to ramp up the milage by meeting on Southsea seafront, ride east to the Hayling Island ferry (as seen elsewhere on this thread), ride the length of Hayling to Langstone bridge, turn west to get back onto Portsea Island and down to the Harbour Station, thus adding about 15 miles and another ferry. But it never happened. Either version is a highly recommended day ride.

Mrs653 and I did the Betty on the tandem. The other machinery was, er, eclectic.
They laughed when I said I was going to be a stand-up comedian. They're not laughing now.

Has anyone got a good photo of one of the Stena cycle racks well filled with bikes please?  I would like one for a presentation I am doing on cycle touring around the Netherlands. We went over at August Bank Holiday and not only were the racks both ends completely full, but they had created extra cycle parking too by lashing down some of those crowd barriers in the motorcycle area. Of course I forgot to take a photo hence my posting now.
Thanks

There really ought to be a Rupha-posed version of that last picture.
You are in a maze of twisty flat droves, all alike.

Finally, I manage a photo of my bike on a Ferry....and like London buses 2 in one day.

I rode back from the Suffolk Byways in Blaxhall via the coast and took....

The Bawdsey to Felixstowe Ferry.....Ferry

Then after a short scoot down to Felixstowe I took the Harwich Harbour Foot Ferry from Felixstowe to Harwich

Nice way to break up the ride home.

And while I am at it, I am loving my new Stainless bike with 28's. It's a lot more comfortable over the distance.

We've bagged quite a few of the Scottish ferries, but they had nothing on this Dutch one between two of the Friesian islands. Cyclists only for this crossing.

At the time I wondered why they were tying all the bikes onto the railing but it soon became very clear.
Second scariest ferry journey ever. I was only able to not panic by thinking that surely Netherlands is the kind of country that wouldn't allow anything too dangerous but I was very glad to see dry land again.

There are some major currents in the Waddenzee. I once sailed through there doing 6 knots through the water, but going backwards.

On MV Loch Nevis to Eigg

On MV Loch Nevis to Rum

On MV Loch Nevis from Rum to Canna

Same ship each time, but 3 different journeys around the Small Isles.  And I made sure I lashed the bike to a different bit of the ship, with a different collection of granny knots, on each occasion, ok?

The Arran Ferry - though I wasn't actually going on that particular ferry (I was waiting for the Campbeltown ferry) and I forgot to take a picture of the ferry I did go on (the MV Isle of Arran, which didn't go to Arran).
