That raw NE wind is a bastard today; and when I popped round to the PO at lunchtime, there were a few small flurries flying about in it. Will this winter never end FFS?

Gatwick is reading something like 15-20mph NE wind and Heathrow a little lower at 10-15mph NE wind, but both are increasing, and it felt worse than that, which may have just been the gusts, which are currently anything up to twice those figures.

It should be easy on the way home. :thumbsup:

I think (famous last words) that snow should now be a thing of the past for London.  We haven't had much snow anyway (and none for weeks), and it's unlikely that we'll have much this late in the season, it'll be too mild for it now.  I think I can safely but the snow tyres away, unused, until next winter.

Jan 5th 2010, phoned sister up North, said "you can keep that white stuff, we don't have much down here" 20 hrs and over 40 cm of the stuff later leaning out of trike at 04-00 pushing with arm as had lost traction again I thought "why don't I keep my gob shut"

I have only ever experienced one White Christmas (1970).

I have lost count of the number of times I have woken up on Easter Sunday to several inches of snow. All of this in Essex.

Today, for the very first day since before Christmas, I did NOT pass any piles of snow going over the southern Peaks....
All has now melted - Spring is a-coming in at last, it seems.

It seems a worthwhile exercise to post on this thread, since I just took delivery of a set of 26" Marathon Winters, to go on the Snow Bike.  Oddly enough, it's easier to find stock of these now than it was a few months back. ;D

OK...OK... it's not snowing. It's August Bank Holiday Sunday  :hand:.

But.

It hailed so much in an earlier storm, it certainly looked like it.

Looking at the rainfall radar, and the weather map, there's not a lot of difference between today, and that day in December 2009 when we had 10" of snow.  Oh dear   :facepalm:

Yeah, starting to get prices for winter tyres now and looking at which snowboard to get for this season.
It's supposedly a La Niña year, which should (!) bring lots of snow.

I believe that I saw my first snow topped mountains of the season today, albeit from quite a distance - I was on a flight returning to Embra this afternoon and the Grampians were looking distinctly white.
