The ToEL is a 100k early-season audax, going from Musselburgh near Edinburgh, out and back to Dunbar on the coast.
It takes in the high points along the way, including the local test-piece climb, Redstane Rigg.
Due to the geography, this ride is 65k of hills on the way out to Dunbar, and then 40k of headwinds back.
Running as it does in Feb, the weather can be variable, particularly over the high ground.
Some years, it is in blizzard conditions.
It has been described as "The annual re-enactment of Napoleon's retreat from Moscow".
This year, the weather gods were fairly benign.
It did not rain or snow ( to any significant extent ), and the headwinds back from Dunbar were less character-building than forecast.
Still, not a fast 100k.
