A useful 3rd set of power data to go with the SRM and PowerTap hub.

Now I can measure how much power is being lost in the pedal bearings and the transmission.

Pros: can use on any bike including fixed.

Cons: not SPD, expensive.

Cons: not SPD, expensive.

For the first one, what's the betting that, if it proves popular, they release a SPD one? Exustar make the pedal bodies for these so it will be a no-brainer.

For the second, then *maybe* they will come down in price as they catch on.

Some more details in this article by DC Rainmaker: http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2013/08/hands-on-garmin-vector.html
He says Garmin are considering other pedal types, with plans for a mountain bike version next.

Another pro over Powertap etc is it can give left/right power balance.

Been waiting a long time for this system. But now it's to pricy for me  :( plus I've switched to SPD too.
I might just as well wait some years and by a SRM system instead.

If an SPD version comes along, I’m in.

Depending on the price it could see me sell my PowerTap hub. (Mind you, it could also mean a load of cheap PowerTap hubs on eBay...)

I'd also need a new GPS though as my Edge 705 won't be able to make use of the extra features (L/R balance, etc).

PowerTap have just announced some big price cuts, in response to Vector and Stages.

Stages is an awful lot cheaper. But I am not convinced about left-crank-only power measurement.
