sorted out the indexing in the rear mech, altered the front mech adjustment, removed the bolt that holds the handlebars in the stem, greased it, altered handle bar position and retighten. oh, and took up the slack in the brake cables.

Yesterday, aided and abetted by the delicious Liz, I fitted a new set of chain tubes to my 'bent.

Tomorrow night, I shall be removing them and refitting them, owing to my inability to cut the length of the lower one correctly...

Can't you cut it in situ?

Knife round it (or pipecutter if you want a fancy finish) then knife lengthways from end to cut.  Peel off.

No.  It's too stiff to cut in situ and make a neat job.  Besides - I need to flare the ends and that needs heat and water to do a good job.

Cut once.

Although I find that in my case it's

Tonight, I put a new rack on Butterfly's Galaxy.  Lovely :)

Tightened up various loose bits on my Orbit (and readjusted the bars after a very abrupt emergency stop)

Disfettled the old tandem front wheel to keep the hub.

Readjusted Our Kid's Raleigh so the brakes actually work after his close encounter with a BMW a few days ago.

Our Kid actually pumped his tyres up to the required 120psi, instead of the actual 60psi ::-)

Yesterday, while returning from Annie's my bike slipped out of the purpose-built bike racks (doors) on the Lpoo St - Saarfend train, breaking the reflector mounting. This morning I fitted a reflector from some other bike, but it is angled down slightly. I don't suppose that matters very much.

fitted my new Altura day bag bracket ready for my NW Highlands trip and tried to stop an annoying click that's appeared from my BB  >:(

Stripped, cleaned, greased and torqued it back together and just been out for a 10  mile test. I got soaked and the click hasn't gone 100%, it's just a matter of time now  :'(

Packed the road bike into its bike bag.  Either the bag gets bigger, or this just gets easier with repetition.  There's all my spoo and gunge and shoes and a track pump anna magic hat in there too, this time!

The 'bent, she lives!  Mwahahahahaha!

After sorting the chain tubes, I fitted a new set of brake cables and did some other little jobs on her.  We rode into work this morning and my word, where did my recumbent legs go?

I shall mostly be groveling my way up hills in the granny gear this weekend...  :-\

I have just fettled my computer monitor so that my phone headset will hang off the side of it.

I replaced this tyre on my best bike.

It was like this all the way round, with a few bulges here and there.

I fitted it before PBP a year ago, so it's done a few thousand kilometres, but despite the lack of rubber, it hasn't inconvenienced me with any unscheduled deflations.

Today I have replaced two cassettes and two chains.
Whilst fettling these I've noticed my rear hub bearings on one bike are completely mullered  ::-)
The other bike has mullered headset bearings...
I hate bearings, so the LBS can fettle both for me next week.

I've been at Scout camp over the past few days. Thursday night was the soap box derby finals. Our finely constructed machine, using hand picked old pram wheels, was suffering. The rear right hand wheel kept falling off, as the press on bearing cap thing detached itself from the hub.

I rootled around in a rubbish bin and found a coke can. A bit of Swiss Army Knife work and a set of shims were made, to wedge the can on more firmly.

Didn't work though.

I managed to snap the wire of my cycle computer, which I've just soldered back together.  I'll find out tonight whether it works or not, tho I'm not optimistic.

Well it was Sunday rather than today,  but I stripped down and re-greased the pedals on my bike.

I have fitted one of the doors on my new wardrobe.  It's not on properly though.  It has to hook under a rail on the bottom and over a rail on the top, and I can't do that single handed.

Dad (76) is being dragooned into giving me a hand tomorrow.

Disassembled and reassembled my seat clamp, hopefully it will stop "clicking" now.  Sixty miles to Shoreham should be a reasonable test!
Actually, it is rocket science.
