Our two sons have just left for a week's scout camp in Switzerland. Mrs C and I are going to walk along the South Downs from Petersfield to Brighton

My reprobate son has just won £72 in a poker competition. Entry fee £2. He was 4th out of 450ish entrants.

He's just won another £65 in another tournament! £137 profit in a week!

I've never played poker. I taught him how to play chess well and bridge badly.

Yes, though whether it is worth this persistent headache throbbing in my right temple is another question...  :'(

I've 'eard that Tai Chi is supposed to be good for people with arthritis. In June I emailed the Taoist Tai Chi society (or someone like that) asking about classes in the area. I heard nothing and forgot about it.

I had an email today inviting me to join a beginners' class about 3 miles away, starting on 25th September. Mrs. Wow might be coming with me.

The builders are coming to replace the flat roof tomorrow (unless the weather forecast changes). We will finally have two bedrooms at our disposal again and can get rid of the buckets and bowls of smelly water that we have been obliged to collect.

I've booked my holidays :)

I'm going here to do this.

Enjoy!

How many trees will you be planting?  :demon:

Well you will be pleased to know that I won't need to plant any trees as my flights were booked with Zoom who have gone into liquidation.

I paid on a Debit Card so lost my flight and the £500 they cost.  I can't afford to rebook anything under the circumstance, so  the holiday I've been working hard to recover for, has gone for a swanny!

 :'(

But I guess the there is an positive environmental pay off for this, so at least there is something positive.

Elleigh, that is remarkably pissing off.

It's incredible that you are taking it so philosophically. If it were me I'd be kicking stuff.

I've just found this BBC NEWS | Programmes | Working Lunch | Visa debit card refunds so it looks like I may well be covered for the cost of the flights.  Perhaps I will be able to do this in Nov instead.

Always buy insurance, on the rare cases it does actually pay off.

I did but it won't cover liquidation :(

I am however covered as I have a Visa Debit Card.

phew.  To avoid delaying it, would the insurance also cover the increased cost of a working airline for the same dates?  If you phoned them up and said you had to be there for a wedding, for example....
