Cheap few days for first tour in Scotland
« on: 07 June, 2019, 07:33:49 pm »
I can get from London to Glasgow for £25 return
... to Edinburgh / Perth for £45 return
(If booking a few weeks ahead)

How.. by coach!. I've done a fair amount of traveling and the cost / booking ahead is prohibitive by other means, I get on the coach, get a few hours sleep, save on accommodation and is very cheap! Traveling by coach is now an option with my foldup Montague Paratrooper bike.

I would be grateful for your help!
I was thinking of July or August starting from Glasgow, If I rode west to coast but didn't too far north would the midge level be same as Edinburgh / Perth - I don't want to get eaten by midges.
I have been reading up and I know it depends on particular terrain you are in how bad midges are.
Glasgow / to West looks flatter than Perth / Edinburgh.... So better touring country

Midge map.   http://www.walkfife.com/midges-and-how-to-avoid-them

Thanks!

Train to Ardrossan. Ferry to Arran. Make use of a Five Ferries Challenge https://www.visitbute.com/5-ferries-challenge-bute/ ferry ticket https://www.calmac.co.uk/article/6014/Five-Ferries-Island-Hopping-Adventure . You don't have to do it all in a day - have a day on Arran, a day on Bute, etc. Seaside, sea breezes, not so many midges.
