I just tried an online booking via Ringo and it accepted a two day parking slot without problem.
Clever enough to know I'm not clever enough.

Ok thanks...how much £?

Parking is free just up the road, around the town...

From the Ringo web site

Charge Times: 24hrs
7 Days
All Week, 4:00am - 4:00am
£30.10
For every  1 Day Monday to Friday, 4:00am - 9:30am  £6.40
               1 Day Monday to Friday, 9:30am - 4:00pm £3.70
               1 Day Monday to Friday, 4:00pm - Midnight £2.60
               1 Day Monday to Friday, Midnight - 4:00am £2.60
For every 1 Day Saturdays, 4:00am - Midnight £2.60
              1 Day Saturdays, Midnight - 4:00am £2.60
For every 1 Day Sundays, 4:00am - Midnight £1.10
              1 Day Sundays, Midnight - 4:00am £1.10
              1 Day Bank Holiday, 4:00am - Midnight £2.60
              1 Day Bank Holiday, Midnight - 4:00am £2.60

So it looks like the fee would be £7:80 as you have to pay for three timeslots slots (Friday evening - upto midnight, Saturday night midnight to 4:00am and Saturday day 4:00am to midnight.)
Clever enough to know I'm not clever enough.

^ ...which I'll be working on this evening. Lots of minor adjustments and additional information, if I can fit it all on.

On our route check yesterday, Wilkyboy and I had a tough old slog back from Deepdale into the strengthening headwind. The rain turned out to be not so bad as forecast. We availed ourselves of the Yaxham Waters café 43km beyond Deepdale as we were too early for the café there, but then we did set off early, with the wind behind and the café is still on the later Winter opening times.

Looking at the Manningtree station car park ticket machine, it seems you keep feeding in money as per the tariffs above before printing your ticket. The instructions were a bit vague and explains why people have been caught out in the past.

A very pleasant run northwards thru the night, followed by a proper beasting into the wind on the southbound leg, with a bit of rain for interest.  Character-building!  Tomsk was consistently strong, as always; me, merely consistent ... ::-)

A brief write-up here (clickety).

All entrants [apart from a few last-minute postal & paypal forms to be processed, probably tomorrow - it's pub-ride night ] should have got their route sheets, .gpx and information email. One rider has had problems opening some of it - anyone else had issues?

Postal entries had theirs posted yesterday.

All the relevant updated stuff is now on the G&Y Fields page AUKweb.

All the files look good to me, Tom. As I'll be coming by train, I guess it makes sense to bring my London locks and just leave the bike at the station for the curry. After a few pints of lager, should then be able to cadge a backie off someone to get me back to the start :-)

Thanks for all the information Tomsk; all the files were fine for me. If there's still a curry place available at the Moghul please include me. I'll be on the train from Liverpool St, arriving Manningtree somewhen around 9pm.

No email as yet but I was a PayPal entry so expect it'll turn up later. Undecided on staying somewhere nearby afterwards or going on train to That London and thence home to Kent.
Besides, it wouldn't be audacious if success were guaranteed.

I've entered in the last few minutes via PayPal Tom. Looking forward to riding the G&Y again (last time 2013). Cheers!

No place needed for curry - just turning up 30 mins before and belting this one out.

Thank's for the routesheet and the GPS data. I particularly appreciate the service of having a track with less than 500 track points!

Is this event in danger of selling out? I can't make a decision till late next week.

I'd PM Tomsk to ask - he's marked entries as closing on Saturday, after he gets back from the Arrow.

I also had issues opening the original gpx file for my little old Edge 200.
So FYI I've replotted the route here; http://ridewithgps.com/routes/7365097. Looks to be a pretty faithful copy, the distance markers are in the same places.

I meant it's only a fiver to enter so why not pay up and see it as a form of insurance in case you opt to ride?

You'll see on the G&Y Fields page on AUKweb that there is no limit on numbers. I can usually cope with a few last minute entries but like wot they say ^ it's only a fiver...

There's a link to the original RideWithGPS route in the .txt file in the GPS ZIP file Tom sent out so anyone can export their preferred version:  it's http://ridewithgps.com/events/Green-Yellow-Fields-300.  I checked this route when we rode last weekend and it's correct.  Update: I've just scanned along your route, ChrisF, and that looks okay to me, too.

FWIW (and sorry if this is old ground), I haven't found one single common denominator in GPS file formats: GPX works in most modern map-based GPS units, so long as they have a map (the Edge 200 doesn't, IIRC).  Simplified 500-point files for legacy devices are fine if you like following a rudimentary line on the map, but awful if you like turn-by-turn instructions and a data screen (map hidden).  TCX files work brilliantly on Edge devices, but give a TCX to a user of something else, or anyone who's not used one before, and they're like, "huh?".  Hence I created a full GPX plus a simplified 500-point GPX to cover most bases, and a link to the original route to cover (maybe) the rest -- I'd be interested to learn how you got it to work on the Edge 200 in the end?

I'm trying to resist the temptation to buy one of everything to test -- fortunately Mrs W's helping by giving me her stern look  ;D

I didn't do anything clever, just exported my route as a gpx track, crossed fingers, and the Edge 200 accepted it.
There's definitely some strange, first world problem, compatibility issues across .gpx formats. I also ought to upgrade but I'm fond of the humble Edge 200 breadcrumb trail, like an early 80's Atari game, I half expect ranks of Space Invaders to march down the screen.

Update: Edge 200 also likes the version you linked to Wilkyboy, so I needn't have bothered replotting, d'oh - but it helped me visualise my first 300.

Many thanks Chris -- that's useful information   FWIW, I exported the GPX files with POIs set as waypoints -- there's one POI for each control (I think this may be a Premium feature).  Since your export worked on the Edge 200, but mine didn't, I suspect that was the only difference, which is also good to know: waypoints may not work on the 200.

And I like the 80s idea so much I feel like having a 200 beeping away on the handlebars just for fun  ;D
