I thought this was4 minutes fairly well spent:

I scored 23.

Nowhere near. 18. My pattern matching skills are obviously underdeveloped.

Whether fatigue, alcohol (I have had only one pint today), age or a mixture, I scored a mere 73 on this one. There must have been at least a dozen that I knew that I knew once, but just couldn't recall, and another couple I spelled wrong.
I'll try that one again.
-
73 for me. There are about as many again that I should know, but can't bring them to mind. Annoying.

http://www.sporcle.com/games/oi96/railway-stations-in-essex
An excellent one there. I only scored 54: I missed some really obvious ones and completely forgot about a branch line until I didn't have enough time to put the stations in. Part of the confusion is that I expect placed like Upminster and Romford to be included, but they aren't s they are considered to be London.
I'll have another go, more systematically.
-
70/74 at the second attempt. I missed one big one and three small ones, all of which I knew, but just couldn't recall in the time.
-
Essex railway stations? Southend, Witham and Manningtree, isn't it? Can't think of any more ;)
-
11 in Southend borough alone! That probably gives Southend the lowest population:station ratio of any sizeable town.
-
Only the one nearest to the cafe where the FNRttC finishes matters! ;D
-
That's the one on the pier then.
-
Marks Tey is the one that matters! That's the one I use to visit friends!
-
It's also about the best station from which to get straight out into the country for lovely rides into Suffolk. It also has a branch line.
-
You have to cross that branch line, at a level crossing instead of a bridge, to get in and out of the back of the station, which is unusual.
-
That's right - but the train on the branch line hardly ever goes over that crossing itself. It goes the other way.
-
There's a rather nice one about Essex cricketers of the 1980s - the team for the first match of each season. I'm afraid I scored 100% with almost 5 minutes left.
To be honest, it's not that hard. I would expect bobb probably to score the same as me in less time.
I did go to quite a few matches when Essex were in their pomp.

I'm sure you posted that one previously and didn't get 100%! I tried it back then and didn't do as well as I'd hoped. I was absolutely kicking myself at the ones I'd missed.
I reckon I could get 100% now I've seen all the answers :P
Edit: You previously got 97/110 (https://yacf.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=72847.msg1641716#msg1641716)

I got 70, 35% being quoted that the average score is 60% - oh really? methinks that's as fast as some can look them up

I got 83 on trying that again. There are a few I couldn't remember the spelling for - Mongolia's capital seems to have changed its spelling quite a bit since I learned it! Some of them have changed their capital cities altogether (everyone knows Lagos is the capital of Nigeria :P) so I have no chance of remembering the new ones.
I can sometimes recall the capitals of "new" countries like the bits of former Yugoslavia because a lot of them hosted important chess tournaments in years gone by.
-
I was particularly annoyed by Tbilisi - which I thought was spelt Tblisi ::-)
I learned about the dam on the Volta river in Ghana and (as it was then) the Upper Volta (now Burkina Faso) at schools so I knew the capita of Burkina Faso was Ouagadougou - who could forget that name? :D - but I will admit to googling how to spell it while I did the quiz O:-)
-
I'd forgotten all about this. Glimpsed it just now in the threads list and thought, "Oh, a quiz about camping cutlery." :D
-
5 correct. I didn't agree with their answers.
-
https://www.sporcle.com/games/goc3/erase-europe-by-capital-no-skips
That is rather good, and addictive. I got 100% eventually, but it must have taken 6 or 7 tries. I kept getting my Vaduz mixed up with my Valetta.
-

And it's the closest station to where "I broke my Brain" on the way round to Colchester.

I got 105. I'm glad that Sri Lanka autofilled when I typed in 'Colombo'. I'm kicking myself about quite a few of those.
-
Did it again today and got 155.
-
Did it again today and got 176... Only kicking myself over Kampala. Yes, I need to get out more.

That's quite tough in only 2 minutes. I managed 100% with 2 seconds left...

https://www.sporcle.com/games/goc3/clickable-chess-moves-knight-2-moves
Right up my street, that one. There's a pretty straightforward formula for this but even so actually clicking on 27 squares in 1 minutes without making any mistakes isn't easy.
My score: 100% at the first attempt with 2 seconds left.

https://www.sporcle.com/games/hockeystix3/crossword-whiteout
That's an annoying one. It's been set up incorrectly. There are only 165 letters to find yet it tells you it's out of 195. When you have finished the crossword there's nothing left but to give up or let the time tick away.
It seems the average score for that is only 37%. I didn't think it was particularly hard so I don't know where people went wrong.

You have to click the words on the right hand side too to make them disappear to get the full 195.
From the How To Play bit: "•A word list is provided - click words once used."

https://www.sporcle.com/games/themightymoosh/weakest-world
That's a very annoying quiz. in my book, there is no such continent as Oceania. It's a figment of George Orwell's imagination.
It would appear that the USAnians consider it a Thing. That's not the first time they have been wrong. I note that Wikipedia describes it as a region.
-
Perhaps not a geological continent but generally considered one in human geography terms.
-
It's considered as a geological continent because bits of for eg Papua-New Guinea are on the same continental plate. This is important if you are a mountaineer seeking to climb the Seven Summits and want to know whether you should stroll up Mount Kosciuszko in half an hour from the nearest car park or spend a couple of weeks trekking through the jungle to climb Puncak Jaya.
