I'm very unlikely to be out due to bloody colonials scheduling some work for me between 20:30 and 21:30  >:(

No-one else has broken cover so I could be on my own.  I gather that the pesky colonials might be detaining our huggy  :'(

We shall see.

I'll probably come out. I can come over to Witham first as usual.

Bobb, likewise for your light.

Oh yeah! I keep forgetting about that!

The consensus for tomorrow evening appears to be Chelmsford's version of the Woolie - Witham has one too, as does Emmerdale of course.

Therefore, my library of routes offers this for the Witham peloton.

Records show my first visit to The Woolie was 6th February 2013 when myself and Oaky followed a slightly different route.  I remember the night well.  It was cold, wet and horrible.  Oaky was on his Globe and not on fine form from a cycling POV, we were both very pleased to get to the pub and came home by the most direct route possible.

Enjoy London Hill :)

One route suggestion might be to avoid Baddow Road... Perhaps carry straight on from Galleywood (rather than turn R at Beehive...) follow B1007 to the RBT and down Longstomps Avenue, under Princes Road (bike subway) and follow Vicarage Road & Mildmay Road.

I'll be walking to the pub, bike is washed and oiled for the trip so don't want to tempt fate :) Its had a quick test ride... just need to pack my bags now

Joergen

Bobb, do you want to form a Chelmsford peloton and head up to Witham together ?

Half sixish from central Chelmsford.

I usually head up towards Chignall Road and out via Terling over to Witham.

Doggers has filed his excuse early, he's working so won't be out this evening. Tonight's excuse lacks originality - I can't pretend not to be disappointed.

People like DL just don't put the effort into their excuses any more.

And to think he's the current trophy holder!

But he's won a trophy at work since then.  How soon they forget.

He is currently working on the Maldon CC awards.

We should be grateful for the limited time he can spare us.

Ok, shall I just wait at the bottom of Chignall Road from about half 6 then?

If you mean the junction with Roxwell Road then see you then.

If not then let me know where.

I'm taking my fuck off lock. I'm not keen on accepting ted's kind offer of bike parking as leaving my bike in an underground car park in Aberystwyth would be closer to The Woolie!

I am going to walk the less than half a mile from my secure car park to the Woolpack.

You can get me a pint (not of Merlot) in while I am doing that

A healthy turnout last night.

Bobb and I turned up at Spa to find Sister Carlos Fandango, GavinSSN, AndyC33, Ian, Tippers and MEMWNS supremo OD.  Having admired Tippers' and Bobb's respective new steeds, we set off for the Woolpack via TMNH.

It was a typical OD route that seemed to bring you to the edge of Chelmsford only to veer away again but following an easy paced ride, we duly rolled into the pub at about 9.30.  Jiberjaber and Mrs Jaber were already in place sampling the Woolpack's wide range of beer festival ales.

AndyC33 particularly enjoyed his Yorkshire quaffing ale, being a quaffer himself.  GavinSSN bravely went for the plum porter which was apparently a lot better than it sounds.

Plans were hatched for next year's escapades but it remains to be seen how many of those plans make it out of the pub...

Onto the BBQ
