But, the days of me schlepping off to nasty corners of the UK could soon be at an end  ;)   ;D

The only question is whether or not I will be able to afford the beer to accompany my possible newly found freedom.

Anybody out this Wednesday? Forecast is for a mild[!] night. David Kerry and I will be setting out from Dunmow at 7:30pm.
I'm planning to be out.  Where are you thinking of heading?

Oaky, I hadn't thought that far....but I haven't been to the MEMWNS default setting [The Compasses, need I add?] recently. Unless you have any other ideas?

The Compasses sounds good to me.  See you there.

I'm probably setting off from Witham around 7:30 too.

Can't make this week, still suffering with my now 3 week old cold and on Antibiotics
As this is on our patch, I was wandering who would be up for the Sudbury CC Reliability Sportive on the 30/1/11

48 miles shouldn't be to tough, and we could then find some where to taste some fine local suffolk brews

Looks like we may get a tad wet.  Still - a bit of water's not going to hurt us - it's not as if anyone is asking us to drink the stuff!

I'll be out too.  Leaving Witham around 7:30.

Not too fussed on location... any preferences?

Given the flood risk, Tiger's Island perhaps?

Or the Compasses again.

Or anywhere, within reason!

How about the 'Leather Bottle' at Pleshey? We'll loop out to Bardfield again and be there about 9.00, probably.

Myself and The Current Mrs R have been a bit naughty today, bunked off school work and rode over to The Compasses at Littley Green.  We had a wonderful time

Joss has a big jar of pickled eggs clearly purchased from the cash & carry but said once they had all been eaten he would have a go at pickling some eggs using the empty jar.  So, get yourselves over there are eat his cash & carry pickled eggs.  I had one in a bag of chilli crisps (and a roast beef huffer with chips and shared a bag of wasabi peanuts)  Like I said, we had a fantastic time  ;D

Sounds an ideal bunking off afternoon, but how does it qualify for the Nocturnal series?

I confess it doesn't.  I have offered this info as it could prove useful to those who might be interested in some nocturnal activity

However, given what I ate (listed above) there could be some nocturnal activity of a gaseous variety in a few hours time.  It is not unknown for pickled eggs to have me farting like a cart horse.  It's going to be chilly sleeping in the garage tonight  ;D

A suggestion for a destination or at least a pit stop in this legendary series of rides:

King William IV
114 London Road, Braintree, Essex CM77 7PU
01376 567755

Heard good sounds about it today for having real beer

Looks very run down and in fact not a pub on Google maps, but I'm realiably informed that it's restored to any former glory it used to have!

The King Billy was closed for a long time but has reopened and I too have heard good things and have been meaning to call in but haven't got round to it yet.  Dave the Sustrans Ranger who helps me out on the Witham rides used to be a big fan.

Next Wednesday for a MEMWNS ride, anybody? Btw, I'll be WARTY-ing tomorrow from Marks Tey, any of the regular Weds eve crowd going?

They don't normally show up. I've always assumed that they are recovering from their huge Friday Night alcohol intake.

Hope the WARTY went well!

I'm going to be out this wednesday (along with chief).

I'm boycotting WARTYs until the "Yellow Roads of Essex" ride is retrospectively recategorised as one ;)

Which one? There have been lots. I think you are confusing me going for a bike ride and me lowering the tone of the bike ride by inviting other people.  :P
