The Cornish Riviera Express 1000km PERM.

A voyage from Paddington Station to Penzance and back loosely following the GWR line through the countryside.

If you time it right you can leave Paddington Monday-Saturday at 10:03 as the GWR train leaves carrying the Cornish Riviera Express badge, and return 3 days later (Mon-Sat) at 14:01 as the return badged train arrives; 75h58m, allowed time 76h17m. Perhaps you could bag a stamp on your brevet card from the conductor?

(Not showing on the perm list at the moment...)

Will you be accepting GWR receipts as Proof-of-Passage?

You weren't the first to think of it and you can't afford it.

I’ve always decried the concept of bucket lists ... but I now have a one-item bucket list

P.s. any chance of making the website accessible to people not on Facebook?

It's visible even when not logged into Facebook, I always look at FB links in Private/Incognito mode.

However, the link on the AUK Website is missing a : after the https

It should be: https://www.facebook.com/GWRaudax/

Thanks for pointing that out Greenbank, amended.

The Facebook page is less of a website and more of a Facebook page....

....working on a website at mo in between all the other stuff, hang in there!

Yes it would be quite an expensive scheme!

What are the time limits for the first two controls like? (Do perms even have time limits at intermediate controls?) Wondering how plausible it would be to do this over a bank holiday weekend (setting off on Friday evening after work).

Perms are timeless.....

...apart from the overall min & max based on corresponding speed.

Do you have to start Perms from anywhere on the route? I may give it a crack later this year after the Steam express is done but it would be so much easier to start in Penzance as I live in Cornwall.

Preferably you'd start at Paddington, 2nd choice would be Penzance, 3rd an intermediary control and finally anywhere as long as you get a receipt to start & finish and still go through all the controls; but no extra time would be allowed to get on to the route.

You could set a goal for the named trains: departing PNZ at 09:00, returning at 15:11 in 54h11!!  :o

I was thinking about this just the other day.

I'm getting a few more together at the mo so will submit then.
