Yep - its good, compact and limited opening hours (unlike the ones in Boro), not a lot of bike parking available (I've used the rear before but its the entrance to flats, so the noise disturbs them)

Just to draw attention to: Lars Ericsson Memorial afternoon [organised by Audax Club Hackney] - 14:00 Sunday 17th April at the 'The Shooting Star' 125-129 Middlesex Street, London E1 7JF [opposite Liverpool Street Station]. I'll be going.

Thread in the Audax Area...

I'll be trying my best to make it, will depend on family stuff!

Also, I am not going to make 'The Shark' next week now, we are having our boiler done and the plumber will be coming to hang new radiators on Saturday, dang, I am gonna miss all that climbing! To be honest I am kind of glad, still trying to sort out the issue with my knee and not sure that kind of effort would have done it much good.

And lastly, I've taken the plunge got myself a pass at home and booked my mini tour for Mid June. The plan changed significantly from my first idea as getting back would have been a Faff from Cologne or further on.

My plan now is to get the Wednesday night (15th June) sailing from Harwich to Hook of Holland then ride down to Cadzand on Thursday (ca. 110km + 2 Ferry trips). Friday will be a ride into Belgium through Bruge and onto Ypres (about 80km) where I will spend what ever is left of Friday and all day Saturday looking around some of the war memorials and searching out Demarcation stones. I might also try an ascent of the Kemmelberg if time allows. Sunday another approx 80km where I have booked the 4pm sailing from Dunkirk to Dover from where I will take trains to get back to Essex.

That's all been planned in a week off work with very little research so I'm looking forward to see how it turns out. Looking at the profile of the route it will be a good way to get to know my Fixie better  ;D

Happy to share plans if anyone is interested in joining in. I'm not fully sure of exactly what pace I will be going or how often and where I will be stopping but it certainly will not be Audacious!

Kemmelberg isn't as bad as it sounds, but might be very different if it's wet!

I'm still on for the Shark, been practicing too: I did Wilkyboy's Cambridge Chilterns Pathfinder 200 last week. Not quite as lumpy as we'll get on the Downs & the Weald on Saturday though  :-\

Good luck, hasn't tippers got the tools to remove/install it? Or Malcolm in Glemsford? Assuming you've a new bb to fit and there's not some other issue?

I hope you make it.

I do, I have the 'punch' to remove the old bearings and I have the Hope bearing press which fits just right!

I also have 2 BB bearings that are about 0.5mm oversize to fit a shell that has been slightly worn apparently. Thomas' usually have a stock of the BB otherwise (or they did on the one occasion that I needed it anyway)

Right, I have spoken (again) to Thomas Cycle Revolution.  They didn't sell me the bike but they are my local trek dealer.

Apparently the rate I am chewing through bottom brackets on my bike (this will be the 3rd since last February) is my fault.

Every time you have ridden a Trek Domane or Trek Madone with a BB90 in the rain you should remove the cranks from the bike and remove any water or other crud from the shell, the spindle and the exterior of the bearings and then rebuild it.  I was told the system is not remotely weatherproof. It must therefore only be designed for short rides in the dry.  The Trek Domane is sold as an endurance bike.

I am assured that if it is raining when I leave Chepstow then no damage will happen to the bearings by the time I have returned.  How the bearings will remain greased and functioning while awash with water during this period is presumably the work of Trek fairies.

Research on the internet would suggest that this is all bollocks but I need the bike back so I will fit the v2 bb and see what happens.  I doubt it will be ready in time for Saturday though.
